RiteWing 48-FT build thread

Hi all here is a prototype wing I got from Chris at http://www.ritewingrc.com/. I have decided to put up a my first build thread. Here goes here are my first couple stages. I installed the four small carbon rods top and bottom. Then I gorilla glued the two main spars in along with the two wing halfs together. Man that gorilla glue activates like crazy with sprayed with water, it sqeezed out of every nuk and craney.

Yea I normally use hot glue for joining everything.
Trying something different with the gorilla glue. I have used gorilla glue for so many different EPP tasks and it bonds so incredibly well. Plus it will be covered in henrys 183 fibermesh soaked in 3M90. So it will have even more strength on there.

Here is the progress with the all the gear installed. The henrys 183 mesh covering went on very nice and flat. Man This thing is stiff as a board.

You bet Matt,
I inserted the tail into the tube. Then mearsured how far back I wanted the tail to run. lined it up drew my lines sliced out the section. Hot gluded the tube in its postition lined up with the bottom airfoil. Then I put two slices of EPP on the top and bottom with hotglue. Solid as a rock. Then once I used the Henrys 183 it really locked that puppy down.
There you go,

Here is my latest photos, Man I am not even kidding when I say the henrys made it stiff as a board. I can not wait to make a combat ship with this stuff.
Now I am off to the beach for some CG balancing and flight reports.

You ar probably about rite on the weight Thuren ,The Ft is a total proto ,I sent it to claw along with the new version of the proovin phoenix fity,The FT is a version of a non released sloper that I fly.It has just slightly less sweep and zero washout than the first one .
Hope it all goes well ,I have ben slammed w buidls so I figured I would let The claw give it a go.
Hope it goes well .

Well the lift was very light at little beach in Carlsbad. I Threw it out a few times, flew very steady it did bob a little bit kind of porpused, with about 12 ounces of nose weight. I did use a smaller battery pack a little extra weight was required. I need more lift and day light too dial it in real good.

Question: When they porpuse like that is it tail heavy a little?

I always mix those up. I always wind up adding or removing weight till she flys level.

Maybe the next one we can loose one of the internal spars and put the servos up alongside the batteries.Even 2 degrees of sweep added might help if somone wants a liter build.
Jason once you get some good lift she should rock.I actualy like mine medium to heavy.
I was at carlsbad last week and it was pretty week lift When I was there too.

Porpoising is typically from too much elevator... how far do ya have it dialed down?

Can't wait to hear how she flies in stronger lift... Chris designs some cool stuff!

Tell me you didn't start building yesterday?? !! ??

If so you are FAST!

If it was porpoising, and you could fly it, it was probably a combo of too much throw and a bit nose heavy. I would image your elevator throw would be 3mm(1/8") MAX with that tight sweep. Should bang a freaking TURN once dialed..
