Little Screamers for 17oz Ryan RareBear?
I have a 17 oz Ryan RareBear that I am trying to power. I want it to go really fast, so I ordered an LS Park Jet for it. The numbers look good, but the motor seems awefully small. Will it be enough?

What prop are you going to run with it?? You should be ok, but a double stator motor probably would have been a better choice.

I will be using a Widsor 6x4. I currently have a Weilgard WA2212-06 in it. It is okay, but does not have the speed I am looking for.

In a 13oz Wild Wing and using a APC 5.5x4.5E I get great speed (85-95+) and not quite unlimited vertical. The 6x4 is not nearly as fast. Also, that motor can take a 6x5.5 with proper cooling, but my cheap batteries (TrueRC1500s) couldn't supply enough current so my top speed was less with the bigger prop. Need some 2100s and a 25amp ESC to be safe... but then that defeats the weight savings.
I had a LSPJ on a 19oz F-15, it was fast, but not spectacular - I was using the 6x4 however. I am installing the 2212-06 this weekend to compare (better thrust numbers, I don't need any more speed but I do need the thrust). It'll probably push up the AUW over 20oz though. I'm putting one on a glassed Terry (don't know AUW yet) also so I will have more data for different weights soon. Your plane looks great by the way... |

The motor that you are replacing has more power, so your performance will more than likely go down some.
Let me know when you want that plane to haul  and I will set you up with one of our customcdr doubles or triples.My latest doubles are doing 22,000 rpm on 25 amps spinning a 6-4 on 3s. |
