Alfa Model kits setup

Hi guys,

I get a couple of emails and PMs about Alfa kits and recommended power/servo setups for these planes.

Below are some setups we use/used. You can’t go wrong if you use the same setup.

Servos:
I always use either GWS NAROBB for elevator and GWS NARO PRO/MAX for ailerons or HS65 for ailerons and HS55 for elevator. Anything this size is fine.

Receiver:
Anything not too big will do; there is enough room for JR-RS77/Jeti Rex7 size receivers.

Alfa WWII warbirds:

Speed 300 GeardriveALF5204 – scale like performance
Prop: APC 9x6SF (included in ALF5204)
Battery 2 cell 7.4V Li-Poly, 1200-2200mAh, current draw about 8 Amps
ESC MGM 8 Amps

MPJet Outrunner (blue) MPJ 20202 (MPJET Ac 28/7-35D) - faster
Prop: APC 9x6SF
Battery 3 cell 11.1V Li-Poly, 1200-1500Ah, current draw max 12 Amps
ESC JETI Advance 18-3P

MPJet Outrunner (red) MPJ 20203 (MPJET Ac 28/7-30D) - fast!!
Prop: APC 8x6E
Battery 3 cell 11.1V Li-Poly, 1200-1500mAh, current draw max 18 Amps
ESC JETI Advance 18-3P

MPJet Outrunner (red) MPJ 20203 (MPJET Ac 28/7-30D) - balistic!!
Prop: APC 8x8E
Battery 3 cell 11.1V Li-Poly, 1200-1500mAh, current draw max 18 Amps
ESC JETI Advance 30-3P, MGM Easy 25

Alfa Jets

MPJ 20124 (MPJet Ac 25/25-26 Mk.2) – Scale / First EDF,
Battery 3 cell 11.1V Li-Poly, 1200-1800mAh
ESC MGM 18 Amps or JETI Advance 18-3P

MEGA 16/7/4 - Pretty fast
Battery 3 cell 11.1V Li-Poly, 1500-2000mAh
ESC JETI Advance 18-3P or JETI Advance 30-3P

MEGA 16/7/4 - Afterburner
Battery 4 cell 14.1V Li-Poly, 1500-2000mAh
Current draw 19.8-20 Amps static
ESC 30 Amps for 4 cells, MGM Compro or Jeti Spin33

MEGA 16/7/3 - Afterburner
Battery 3 cell 11.1V Li-Poly, 2000-2200mAh
ESC Jeti Advance Plus 30 or Spin 33

Assembly - Modifications/Recommendations

There is nothing to worry about. The safest bet is to read and follow the included instructions. The Alfa Guys really know what they are doing and the instructions are clear and concise.

Recommendations - I always put a little 5 minute Epoxy around control horns and tubes for servo pushrods to make sure they do not move.

Fan assembly – no secrets involved, balancing the rotor will certainly help a bit, but don’t worry too much about making cooling holes, custom shaft adaptors etc. I have all our jets flying with MEGA 16/7/3-4 motors and never had problems with overheating……

You can find setups around RC groups pushing these Alfa jets over 100mph, we never measured how fast our jets fly...…

Comparing Alfa and other brands

The main difference is: The way they fly.
These really are kits of the highest quality. They will fly beautifully out of the box with a few hours of careful building. The finish and attention to detail are second to none and the advanced methods use in construction result in a lightweight plane that handles like its on rails.

A-4 Skyhawk
Alfa say September (if everything goes well) and we will have them here as quickly as possible. No info on price and/or colour schemes yet.
My guess is around $255 retail with a new 60/25 fan.

I am pretty sure they won’t be sitting on shelves very long, you could PM or email me if you are interested so I can get some idea of numbers.

Zenerderk, (spelling? )

do you have a pulse doppler reading on your 4s setup on the Mig? Reason why i ask, is that i have a Mig and a Huck (as u know) and although i am happy with the flyability of the Mig, the Huck is quick on 4s.

Can you post a vid of one of your 4s packages for pulse doppling? Im chasing 110mph, and dont really want to pull the huck down.

Chris,

Sorry, I don’t have any video of 4S or 3S setup.
