GINGER, or MARY ANN? (ducted fan, or small prop)
I have a bandit kit that needs to be built. I know I can build a plane that will be much more flyable and require less amps if I use a small prop instead of a duct.
But where's the sexy factor in a prop? Ducted fans would look cooler.
I know this is the pusher jet forum , not the ducted fan forum, but how to you keep your desire for a ducted fan in check?
Or, under what conditions do you say 'the heck with it', and get the sexy duct, instead of the more efficient prop?
As I said, it's the 'Ginger, or Mary-Ann' question . . .

for me, the answer is easy...
i'd love to go EDF, but cost is a factor that keeps me back. but also, its the speed issue. i'm probably one of the few who actually like to fly slower rather than faster. yeah, i know its an oxymoron (jet that flies slow). it seems that most jets are actually going quite a bit faster than pushers; but i'm not sure about that. given my field access and my flying skills (or lack thereof... ), i'm stuck with pushers.

hi, i would love to fly edf and have tried two edf models with limited success. built a free plan pusher jet and it flys great.
