New flight time record on my Trex 600...just over 20 minutes!

I'm setting up my Trex for A/P work and needed more flight time, and I found the solution using a simple parallel circuit and two 5000 mAh 6s lipos. The results were doubled flight time and MUCH cooler batteries. The added 1.7lb weight from the second battery didn't seem to affect the flight time much to my relief.

Can you share more details? Gear ratio, head speed, etc. I'm looking for an electric mechanics to house my Agusta Scale body and looking for 10+ minutes gentle flight per charge.

Everything is stock on this particular ship w/the 10 tooth pinion. Head speed is around 2100 I believe, I need to get my hands on a good HS gauge to be sure. I use this same parallel config in my Trex 600/Airwolf scale ship. The flying weight is a whopping 12 pounds, but still flys great - I even do gentle loops and rolls with my 'Wolf ...too much fun!

QR, isn't she a little nose heavy with that setup? Or have you offset that with the A/P equipment? I can't seem to get more than 6 minutes (safely) out of my TP's but have considered doing the same thing to at least get 12 minute flights. 20 would be awesome!

CG is dead on (strange I know) with my stock Trex. My Airwolf is nose heavy though, but I just give it a few clicks of back.

hey , on my trex 600 on 12S my first flight I put on 10s 4400s and run wide open , 1800 HS , which is good for mild 3D, my guess about 12 min worth, but slap on the 12s 3800s and good for hard 3D for 7 min,

What duration do you get with the scale Airwolf?

with the parallel setup I get around 17.5 minutes of circuit flying with some mild aerobatics thrown in for flavor...

The "Lady" sure looks good..... <<salivating>>

... but that lipo pack's wiring... yeah, you should do something about all that electrical tape.

QuietRiot, you're the man (or woman), thanks for sharing.

I think I found the mechanics for the Agusta US Coast Guard.

hey , looks good , great flight times too, but why wasting RPMs? different motor ( lower KV) would be better, and a higher voltage
also , make sure both packs are matched before hooking in parallel , I charge my 6s in parallel too , but hook to heli as 12s though

Not sure what you are referring to or how to answer..."why waiting RPMs"
Anyway, the motor I have in my Wolf is a Neu 1512 3D/F and a Castle HV85. This combined setup cost me nearly $500 and would have to drop in a Neu motor (pun intended) if I wanted to use higher cell counts. Besides, with this parallel setup my 6 cell packs are no longer getting 'beat up' every flight as they are only giving out half as many amps per pack - they only warm to 120 degrees now after a full flight in summer conditions! The only downside is that (at 12 lbs flying weight) it will put in a slightly larger dent in my truck hood should I get stupid.

for lifting , low RPM , longer boom and blades would be more effient , but finding a boom might be a problem. at 12 lbs , 710s , 1600 HS at cclose to max throttle would be way better, and 12s. High HS useing alot of power that you just wasting , but you need it since you useing small blades , thats all I was saying

I believe you meant to say 'wasted RPMs' if I heard your explanation right. I agree that a slower head speed would be a good thing, I'm just not sure how to accomplish this w/out changing the motor - my pinion is as small as they make (I've heard) for this shaft, it's a 10 tooth.

JustPlaneChris, I traded in my hatch screw for an uber strong magnet and that hatch is going nowhere this time!
