Or build a battery bunker out of concrete into the wall. Something looking like a small oven, with vents to the outside and a steel door.

The easiest thing to do is to buy a GENUINE lipo sack or to go to an army surplus store and buy a metal ammo can. They were designed to protect ammo from the outside, and protect people from the inside, so charging a lipo in them is perfectly safe. You will need to punch a 1"x1" in the top to allow wires to come out, and to allow possible smoke to shoot out instead of rupture the ammo can. Very safe, only damage would result from the smoke out that SMELLS LIKE CRAP! that stuff is , but if you don't want any smoke damage, charge it outside and you're good to go...or near a window at least.

To prevent a pop/boom at all:
-store your lipos in a cool area preferably in something metal (toolboxes work really well) or a firesafe
-use a reliable charger compatible with lipos
-use a balancer
-if a pack balloons, dispose of it by soaking it in a salt/water solution (1:4 ratio I believe, correct me if wrong) and let it soak for preferably 24 hours because this will remove any charge left and will neutralize any chemical components inside of the pack. Then dispose of it in your trash can and it's safe to go.

I wish I had a garage...I only have 2 foldable tables to contain my plane work, heli work, and nitro 1/8 buggy work. IT ALMOST CAN'T BE DONE!

Yeah, the fire was my fault of no following the basic safety rules. I know use the Lipo Sack ( the REAL ONE!!) Also, put a smoke detector near the bench.

I work of a fold up table too for now.

Your shelf looks a little sparse there, Fred. Why only one heli?

Is that a Predator on the top shelf?

I've been thinking about one of those, electrified!

volts x amps = watts.

true but every little bit helps. That's not to say a small fire extinguisher is pointless for a housefire, but it it's enough to help kill it when it's small. A small liposack can help just long enough to disconnect and throw it all outside on the driveway.

The idea is to contain the flame if a venting occurs. And actually it has been tested on BIG packs too.

If I have a wire melt during charging, do I really want it touching a metal container?

Place the sack on a few bricks when at home, solves the fire issue all together.
