If you have a child, she needs a garage. Otherwise she is a big girl and won't melt any worse than we do.

For charging, always be there, charge in or on a non-flamable container ( I like the REAL "LIPO SACK" and put a smoke detector nearby, just in case.

The "shop" is planned out. Will be 16 x 22 with a pull down stairway (not ladder) only access is via the garage, so it is not a living area Really about 16 x 16, but I can live with that since I have alot of other storage and a 2 car garage just for me

Contracting out the cement and the framming. I will skin it and not sure on the roof yet.

After what happened to Fred's garage I gave much thought about the safest way to charge a battery with the lowest cost and decided on a surplus army ammunition box and then lined it with leftover durock cement board. With the lid closed there is no way an exploding battery is going to cause much damage-Although it's not been tested as I've yet to have a battery go inside it either.

Thing I like most is it makes a convenient and safe way to transport and store the batteries as well.

It still needs a vent if it vents. Just don't lock the lid tight.

Fred, glad that you are finally getting things back to normal. I saw the original pictures of your garage, scary. Do you think that the new Lithium Manganese batteries ( Duralite makes them) will add safety?. From what I have read, they are not nearly as combustible and seem to have good charging and discharge rates.

Thanks, but they will only be as safe as we are.

I mean, how many of us keep a can of gas in the garage?

Looking good Fred, I'm going to start building mine on monday. I'm going to put a 20 by 40 basement in it for my hobby stuff and it will be made out of concrete, so no worries of lipo fires. Marv

I am seriously considering a sprinkler system for the garage. Should save me a little on insurance and the piece of mind would be, PRICELESS
