"Top Secret" p-47 on the hobby-lobby weekly outing site...

I was surfing through the hobby-lobby teams weekly outing page and cam across this. looks pretty good. (its even done up in my favorite scheme, Col. Gladych's Pengie V) Looks like it could be a Flying-Styro kit by the looks of it.

Check it out.
anyone have any info on this plane?

Rob

Hi Rob, They have been selling that plane with a normal paint job for a few months now. Shouldn't be difficult to customize it.

check out this thread by JAH and do a search for it:

the flying shot. looks like it has a fully surfaced wing. I WAS getting ready to bend one up from blu core- boy do these guys have ESP or what....

Mike from HL, tell us how it flew.... it's not top-secret any longer.

It looks very similar to my Hobby Lobby F6F Hellcat. It is likely a Scorpio ARF from Italy.

Check out my thread above for my upgraded (and lighter) power system.

Looks nice! I might have to get me one of those
BC: the link you posted is to an F6F Hellcat, very similar to the P-47, but not nearly as cool

Osiris, right you are. Sorry Rob for the misinformation, my mistake.

Thanks,

Wayne

Well the Hellcat is pretty sweet too. I was looking out for a park-compatible warbird, and I still might build the blu-core job just for the heck of it. The Jug would make a good subject for F3 due to its wide fuse and limited taper around the nose. There have been quite a few done in the foamy section that turned out nice.

The way I operate, thay could design, beta-test, tool and ship a kit before I even had the time to start a scratch project.

Johan:

Thanks for solving the mystery. It looks like it's not from Scorpio/Astra since it doesn't have the fixed gear and battery box arrangement that all their planes seem to have. Flying Styro, perhaps? Anyhow, the detailed photos on the Swedish site make it look pretty nice -- and talk about an ARF, it's all built! As Thunder points out, a definite candidate for brushless power and Robart 123 mechanical retracts.

Doh! After seeing the specs it's a good deal smaller than I had imagined. The Scorpio Spit, FW190 and Hellcat are 1/12 scale. At 32" wingspan it's only 1/15 scale. Still, it would probably take a speed 400 sized motor and the Mountain Models or GWS retracts with a good deal of reinforcement on the wing and fuselage. It would definitely be a lot hotter at this size!

Any idea who makes this kit?
