Overall it flew very well. Needed to shift the battery back a tiny bit for better CoG. Gonna be a fun one!

Not now. The first few versions had some problems with the CF rod bowing outward at lower RPMs, which shook things up pretty good and contributed to shaft/motor separation. Once you hit a certain rpm though, the CF rod centered itself and smoothed out. Keeping the shaft under about 9 inches and/or having a piece of EPP foam placed halfway between the motor and the foam at the back of the aircraft seems to eliminate this problem and lets it run smooth. I haven't noticed additional motor heat or wear and tear, but then I've only been doing this for about a month.

Update regarding coupling a carbon fiber shaft extension to a mid-mounted motor. I've found that both the fuel line coupling and (to a lesser extent) the tape coupling are more prone to separate if you have longer (or hotter) flight times. I found a 1/8 inch rigid shaft coupler online that appears to not have this problem. A picture of the coupler is shown below. I got these at http://www.servocity.com/html/rigid_shaft_couplers.html

It may, of course, introduce its own set of challenges...

Has anybody tried the clear Krylon Short Cuts to coat their bird? If not Krylon, what might be another option to provide a (light weight) clear coat?

hey guys, i thought i might post my question here, as it is for tip

i am building a pusher uav type scratch built. i am still desigining it atm. what do i need to do that is different from a normal configuration.

like motor alignment

and incidence?
my previous build, well lets just say it looked good, but it didnt exactly take off. (i prob built it too small for my equipment as i had massive p-torque roll which was uncorrectable)

the motor was pointing up. (what about sidewys direction? and i had a few degrees of incidence, (approx 5deg, do i need more? )

cheers guys. any help would be really greatful.

also, when mounting the wings, whats a good idea, (as the wings are going to be approx middle of the fuse, is it a good idea to abuild the wings into the fuse, or can they be glued onto the sides what do you recommend?)

I think you'll get more help if you can start a new thread and post some pictures of what you built and especially sketches of what you'd like to build.

The answers to some of your some of the questions you asked will depend on the overall design.

Sharpie "Metallic Silver" works great on black epp.
