"So Where Are You --- LSF Wize?"

Gordy,
You keep mentioning your level V wins, but I just checked the list of the
Level V 's, and I didn't see your name. I guess that 2 hour thermal, 8 hour
slope and 10k goal and return are juat as important as the wins. Keep
trying, you'll get there.

So what do you guys have left to do at your current LSF level?

Gordy

Level 0 here, so I have a lot to go! But I did convince some of the guys in
the club to join in for the ride! So we'll be working on it together and
pushing each other.

Re: "So Where Are You --- LSF Wize?"

Jared,

You and your buddies are in for wonderful journey. Good luck and have a
great time along the way. BTW, I need my Goal and Return to finish up Level
IV. I am kind of slow at it, I have been working on mine since the late
70's. Of course losing my First Level IV Voucher that was one contest away
from completion back in the early 90's kind of slowed down the process.
But, heck the fun part is, I got to do Level IV all over again so all is
good.

See Ya,

Pat

I just completed my LSF V and Canadian Diamond 10 K yesterday in
Monticello, IL.
Need another win and that darn 8 hour thing. I was going to stop and take
a look at Brookville Dam, but there was a big thunderstorm, so I drove on.

Today I do the Canadian 1 Hr/5K/5M spot flight. Really nice here at the
JR Aerotow. The road out of the airport goes straight for miles and
miles. Oh, there is a tree or two at some farm houses.... if you look
hard. Of course, from the site you could see a tree or grain elevator or
water tower 10 maybe even 20 miles away. They say it's flat here, but we
road over a 2 ft hump in the road, so it's not perfect....

Congratulations Tom on your accomplishment. Your MXC looked very
nice, ready for the task.

Just another update form Thursday at JR Aerotow, Skip Miller ended up
with 48.5 miles in about 4 hours using a 6 meter Nimbus 4! Seems he
can't get enough of XC.

Re: "So Where Are You --- LSF Wize?"

I am about to start Level V with my first win. I am working on my third
level V accomplishment. I am sure it will be my last time to do it as I
am getting to old (63).

:-) If you believe that you don't know me well.

Re: "So Where Are You --- LSF Wize?"

Gordy,

This was from a write up done by John Vennerholm, LSF V #51 reflecting on
his 8 hour slope flight. I think it sums it up very nicely, at least "the
sky" part of it. I know so many outstanding pilots who won't jump into LSF
because they don't want to stand on a slope for 8 hours. I'm glad I did it;
I learned a lot from the experience.

"As I think back about the flight, I
realize that we who have made an
eight-hour flight have experienced
something unique, the opportunity to
watch the sky continuously for an
entire day with no interruption. I
watched the sky go from overcast,
dark and gray, through various stages
of cloud, until it was clear and brilliant
blue. I saw all the changing cloud
formations and watched them form
from nothing and grow and become
full-sized cumulus and then dissipate.
I watched the changing sunlight color
the sky and I flew with several hawks.
And I saw all of this as one continuous
visual experience from 10:30 in the
morning until 6:30 that evening. All of
you have watched clouds form, and
watched the sky, but how many of you
have actually seen it evolve through an
entire day and not miss a single thing?
Many of you will call it complete
physical and mental anguish. I think it
was a fascinating experience."
