Extreme.... Your Thoughts?

The Heli boys really threw it down... Congrats to all!!!! Ground clearance had to be measured with a micrometer for bragging rights!! Great Job Guys!!!

With the airplanes... I'm a little confused..... it seems like the Extreme was not the focus of the judging... A lot of the boys threw it down big time with some very awesome flying!! Great Job Guys!!! Lots of people were on the edge of their seats... (some hovering...) but the final outcome didn't seem to be based on the word "Extreme". Precision should always be part of a good aerobatic routine, but there were some pretty awesome maneuvers with very complex skills required to execute (not just stick banging...) that didn't seem to surface in the overall outcome... I would think the scoring would be heavily weighted relative to risk and complexity of extreme maneuvers, coupled with precision, an last but not least... coordination to the music.

Can anyone explain the criterion for scoring??

Your comments??

I thought the videos were cool. Stinks the weather didn't really cooperate, but at least it went on. I have a dumb question though, for some of the guys who came from other countries, how did they get their planes and equipment to the event? Just wondering in case I wanted to go next year, because I know eveyone does not have the luxury of a trailer, LOL!!! Thanks.

I agree with the judging questions (although there will always be some) as I thought that Leesburg's flying was as extreme as it gets. Especially that blender that ended about 2 feet from the deck in a rolling harrier! That was awesome.

I also thought that the music choice of most of the pilots was terrible! There seemed to be a lot of 80's pop and other junk that should have been banished from any public event years ago! I'd rather listen to Gernot's orchestra routine (which was sweet) than that stuff. Get some newer rock and alternative into these routines guys!
Obviously this is my biased opinion based on my music tastes but if it will get Leesburg to drop Gloria Estefan's "Do that Conga" from his routine, then I did my part to make the world a little bit of a better place! lol

agreed on the judging criteria. I know that this competition is based alot on smoothness but I really don't understand why it is called the extreme flight competition as it doesn't seem to matter how extreme you fly. Andrew and Mark both threw it down the last round but oh well.
