How are the DX7s working with the Trex?

I have been reading about all kinds of problems with the Sprectrum DX7 systems. It seems that most of the issues are coming from plankers. How about you heli pilots. Is the DX7 working for the standard Trex setup. How many crash and burns? No problems? Love em? Hate em? Let us hear.

I have heard issues with under voltage cutouts. Receiver loosing sync with radio. Uncommanded servo moves. However this may all be attributed to the DX7 system, but a problem may lay elsewhere in the electronics.

I have had mine setup for only a week. But before that I have had my 36 setup on the DX7 / AR7000 for over 2 months now I guess. I have had no issues and I am very happy.

P.S. That's one week and about 80 flights. I am a have addict!

haven't heard of any problems with the radio itself... only with the older ar6100 receivers.

Under voltage is real, but easy to fix (uprate your BEC). Early AR6100s had an uncommanded servo move problem, now fixed in firmware. There is a way the transmitter can fail that results in uncommanded movements, that's faulty equipment, which of course can do anything.

A heli pilot is never going to have range issues, but bigger (read 500 and 600 class) helis might have shadowing issues; this is fixed by using an AR6200 at least in that class of heli.

Other than those things, all of which are fairly easily fixed or very rare, it's a great heli radio, probably only exceeded by other 2.4GHz systems that aren't out yet.

I run the DX-7 on my Hurricane EP550, TRex 450SE V2, Falcon 3D and several other helis and have absolutely no problems whatsoever. And I pretty much have most all configurations covered and nothing in the radio or receivers has given me any problems. Great system with great support.

Perhaps you have been fed bad info by someone who is anti 2.4GHz and anti Spektrum.

I was just surfing around the various forums looking at all the info out there. The problem is, those that are having no problems normally dont post. I have a Futaba CH7 now. I also put a dimension engineering BEC into my setup which consist of the stock Align ESC and 430L. Both of which I have had no problems in one year of use, and one hard crash. I would think the BEC should protect against any under voltage problems.

Have you heard that 1 unsatisfied customer will tell on average 11 people of their bad experience and 1 customer that had a good experience will tell only 1 or possibly 2 people?

Did you find any of the posts where the question was asked what is the best tx? Or should I get a DX6 or DX7? A lot of those posts have plenty of responses about how people love them. Even the posts that have bad experiences have posts in them saying how to fix it once it was determined if it was a known problem (e.g. the firmware issue).

I looked at the Futaba system and the DX7 system very long and hard. I went with the DX7 because of the amount of good press behind it. The AR6100 did have a problem which was rememdied.

I run a Dimension Engineering SportBEC as well. Great BEC!
