RCGroups.com Coverage of XFC

The RCGroups.com crew is gearing up and headed to the XFC. This competition has some of the best RC pilots in the world going head-to-head in heated competition. From planes to helis - this year's XFC will have it all, and RCGroups.com will bring it to you with images and videos.

Matt Chapman will do a full scale airshow and there will also be sky divers. As if that weren't enough, this year the XFC competition will be held in Muncie, Indiana at the AMA National Flying Site. This beautiful 1,000 acre site features flying facilities for all forms of aeromodeling. Not only will the XFC be going on but there will be bands, hot air balloons, a carnival, fireworks and an antique car show. 20,000 to 30,000 people are expected to attend.

Hi rgoble,
I'm pretty sure you're right. The entry fee to get into the XFC last year was $5 per person.

This year the fee is $20 per carload for non-AMA members.

If any person in the car has an AMA card the entry fee becomes $5 per carload. One person in the car has to show an AMA membership card at the gate.

Hope this helps clear things up.

Hi scrape,
Actually, worst case scenerio, if an AMA member came alone to the event it would cost the member $5 to get in the gate, the same as last year. If the member brought three other friends (even if none of the friends are AMA members), making four in the car, it would cost each $1.25 to get in the gate.

For non-members the cost is $20 per car no matter how many people are in the car. Four in the car would make the gate fee $5 per person.

Like Jim T. said up top, the big change in the event this year is the addition of a weekend long hot air balloon festival, a full-size noontime airshow with Matt Chapman and Mike Mancuso. Sky divers, a carnival to keep the kids happy, antique car show, evening concerts, and fireworks demonstrations after dark.

The XFC folks have put a lot of effort into creating this year's event and they're pretty excited about what they've put together.

Sounds worth it to me.
I've been to some events that cost way more and don't offer half of what you folks are offering.
Too bad I'm all the way in California.

Maybe next year.

Pedro.
