New toy-Hyperion Yak-55SP 10e

A few pics of my Hyperion Yak - the small one. No serious mods, just a few repairs.

I added a steerable tailwheel and a cowl baffle that (sorta) looks like the iris type on the real airplane. I had some problems tightening up the covering on the top of the wings and ended up stripping it and starting over. That's why the yellow trim is a bit different. Power is an HXT 35-30-B 1400 outrunner swinging an MA 9x4 glow prop, TP W30A ESC and HXT 1700ma 3s 20c lipos, all from United Hobbies.

This is my first real aerobatic plane and it immediately became my favorite ship. In fact, it created a bit of a monster. I got a Hyperion Su-31 10e shortly thereafter and an Ultrafly Yak-54 just the other day! I guess I've been bitten by the aerobatic bug...

I know a lot of you hard-core 3D guys were less than thrilled with this little guy. I'm not much of a 3D guy (yet) and tend to prefer "pattern" style maneuvers, so for the way I like to fly (Someone recently dubbed it "errorbatics") it's just brilliant.

Here are a few pics...

Cheers,

Mike

Flew the Ultrafly again this morning and if you like the hyperion you will like the Ultrafly 10x better. I had the same covering issue and just taped over the screw up.
You should really try the 25e Hyperion Yak 55. It is tied for first on my favorite plane list.

Good to know about the UF Yak. I've got it started but I still need to get some new servos before I can finish it.

I think it's just about inevitable that the Hyperion 25e version will end up in my hangar too! I actually had the Ultrafly Yak-54 and Hyperion 25e on the counter at the LHS the other day, but went with the UF because it was a Yak-54, which I didn't have yet, and I was curious about the thick wing. It was awfully hard to pass up the Hyperion ship though, especially after reading what you've been saying about it!

Hmmm... better go check the bank account!

Cheers,

Mike
