My spare ASW 28 arrived last thursday,l flew the 28 yesterday, and misjudged how close l was to the slope face, whilst turning. It luckily only had minimal damage,it had impacted hard. The glassing of the cockpit, from the nose to the rear of the trailing edge saved it.The canopy frame shattered into pieces, the clear canopy remained intact,no cracks at all.The fuse has already been filled, there was minor chipping/flaking of the paint,at the nose, and just behind the wing at the trailing edge, underneath, and it will be painted tommorow. The wings were hardly untouched, the only damage was the wing root rib on the right wing delaminated, and the trailing edge was split about 5 inches long-top and bottom.I have repaired the wing already with epoxy-15 minute. It will be ready to fly again by late tommorow afternoon. The canopy frame was made by using a heat gun,to heat 2mm thick black plastic into the shape of the fuse cockpit, and holding firm, then waited till it had cooled, before removing hand pressure. The canopy is glued back onto the newly homemade canopy frame.Anyway,it was flying well yesterday,l was using down elevator to get max speed-at this wing loading,it is fast.
