Super Sonic Saber 2 "Red Arrow"

Super Sonic Saber 2 "Red Arrow"

I'm in the market for a cheap (inexpensive) foam flier. My Bro-in-law bought one of those el cheapo flying wings from Radioshack ($40) and it was surprisingly fun.
I've searched the net for something below $50 and this is all I could find that looked semi-cool. I'd be willing to go up to $80-$100, but it seems the next level above a $40 ducted fan would be in the $200 range.

This one only has 2 channels, throttle and rudder, I wish it was a 3 channel.

I've flown a PT40 gas plane and have the great planes simulator with a futaba 4 channel Conquest (FP-T4NBF)

Are there any ARF or RTF foamies I can use my Futaba Conquest (FP-T4NBF) with to maybe save some $$?
I want to keep the total cost below $100

Well, If you're willing to build a little you can get something much better at a lower price.

http://www.sylvanaircraft.com/frenzee.htm

$35- Frenzee kit
$12- 10 amp brushed esc
$24- Hitec HS55 servos (x2)
$20- Corona 4ch receiver
$20-$30 Whatever battery you decide on

You'll just barely break $100 with this setup. Or you could go with a nice brushless motor setup for about $70 more.

Justin,

Did a little shopping for you also.
Do yourself a favor, and start out brushless

Wing cores at rc works for 20-25 bucks http://www.rcworks.com/shopdisplaypr...28all+sizes%29, or a stryker fuse for 20 bucks.
Cheaper than cutting your own if you don't already have the supplies.
Note that both of these would require a little 1/4" thick blue foam or something for the elevons and vertical stabs

2 HS-55's for 12.90 ea. = 25.80 at http://www.hobby-lobby.com/bargain-radios.htm

then the 40 amp controller for 19.95 from http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...2&pid=A3227673

Corona 4 channel for 19.95 from http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...1&pid=A3067642

Pick a 12.50 motor from http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=A1190097
(you want a high kv if possible)

30 to 35 for a battery

25 - wing
25.80 - servos
20 - speed control
20 - Rx
12.50 - motor
35 - battery (you can get one for less)
10 - misc. hardware
____

148.30 plus shipping is a pretty realistic number

If you shop around and buy everything from one place..and get free shipping, I think you could shave this number down

Almost forgot this deal for 20 bucks http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/160525.asp

Stay away from the toy junk, and go brushless for a much better bang for the buck.

Rich
