Hello All,
Does anybody fly at Sunken Meadow park that is not in a club? Do you have any issues with people/clubs there when you try to fly? Im curious how it is with these clubs around and the overall attitude of them.

Hey Jeff,

I live in Massapequa too (north). I see people fly at Cedar Creek all the time and was wondering how I can fly there too. I don't know what the process it (permits etc). I am current flying helis (indoor mostly). Hey, if I can find a place close by, I might try fix wings.

Just go to the office at Seaford, Merrick Road east of Wantagh Avenue
516-571-7470 with your AMA card and get the permit.
I just got one recently, but have not been to the field yet. My plan is to go there after work when it starts getting dark late.

AMA as Academy of Model Aeronautics?

I am not a member. Do I just go to their site and join?

This looks like an interesting club Id consider to check out. Its located in Port Washington, LI. About 15min from my home. Any of you guys have any experience with this club? Any pros and cons?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Willie, My name is John and I am the Safety officer of one of the best clubs on Long Island, and it is very close to your location. I live in North Babylon and my club is the Suffolk Aero Modelers. We fly at Heckscher State Park and have a beautiful field. We welcome new members with open arms. Check out our website or come to the field ( field 9 @ Heckscher State Park at the end of the Southern State Parkway ) We have our meetings the second tuesday of every month (except the summer months ) www.Suffolk-Aeromodelers.org Hope to see you at the field. John

Willie, there is also a club closer to you called the Edgewood flyers. they fly at edgewood preserve. but the field is very small and there are lots of trees and virtually no parking. I live about 1 mile from there and much prefer Heckscher. But to each is own. It's your decision. I can't offer details about thier club because I am not a member of thier club
