Bill, I like the less droopy one also, but I still like a bit of droop for the looks, looks like a mouldy, built of wood!...I like the shoulder mount fuse...I'd be willing to scratch a fuse of my own off of what you decide....I have no time, and I'm scratching a fuse...

hi there from Toledo

hey Mr Smith1

The HH uses an S3021 airfoil and the OlyIII uses an S3014 airfoil which are subtly different but quite similar in most respects. FYI

hey Wingloada

If you are getting some laser work done on the design #233 in the near future, I was wondering, if could I get in on the deal. I would happily cover costs and shipping of a laser cut fuselage short kit. PM me if you are interested.

OK, here is the plan for version 3. Are the nose and tail moments too short? What is optimal?

Here's a pod from the last version. It's a quick mod so there might be some things to catch and fix.

Do you mean you would pay for a set with shipping for me too?! Just kidding, I know that's not what you meant.

I am flattered by the interest. Once I get the final drawing done and the cut sheet made, I intend to send it to National Balsa for cutting. If you would like to do so as well, you too Mr. Smith1, it's fine by me. But please remember this is an untested design and perhaps it might be better for me to break my plane first and then offer some improvements rather than us all risking wing and radio.

By the way, when printing the drop nose plan from the pdf, it did not scale correctly when printed at full size. Perhaps the better thing to do is to print from the dwg file. I'll see if I can sort that out as well. I'm heading into a busy few weeks so...

hey Bill

I am fully aware of what a beta build presents (both risks and benefits) to any builder. Risks acknowledged and accepted. I will contribute any further ideas and mods, no charge.

This is half the fun of doing original stuff.

ps: Cosider adding another former between current f4 and f5 to better support the boom thereby not relying on the tapering stock at the rear of the pod. the tapering stock at the rear is for aerodynamics but is not strong enough for the torque loads imposed by the tail feathers. The extra former would absorb the torque loads and improve the overall strength.

The Yardbird thread that's up right now has some stuff in it that may interest you all. The wood fuselage stuff begins somewhere around post 100 and there's a lot in there about the pod section and how to make a baseball bat outa it...

OBTW... I stuck it in the dirt once... no damage.

Ray, add a former on just the pod, right?

I believe it. That's a great looking fuselage you built.

As per Ray's suggestion, I added a former in the pod to support torsional load from the boom and tail. I have updated the files at the link given in the post above so just use that link to get the update.

Thanks, Ray.

Perhaps this is more like alpha testing!

hi there from Toledo

Actually we haven't gotten to the greek letters yet. We are still negotiating/defining what the initial product should be.

I believe the protocol is any in house building or testing of the new product is referred to as alpha. When you let other people at it then it is called beta. So maybe we are compressing this a bit, oh well.
