Help!
PC Power Supply AT the same as ATX?

Hello. I have scavenged a PC power supply. I have been reading the threads regarding converting to 12 v dc power supply. Anyway, on further inspection I noticed that it is a old AT unit. Are there any differences I should know about? can I use the same ATX threads?

Thanks so much.

Craig

Gday Mate, I think the only diff is that the ATX has a wire that needs to be turned on. Its been a while since I built one but I remeber hearing that the AT style supplies were easier to build.

an AT supply has a power switch, an ATX needs to have a wire grounded. With any PC supply, make sure that the 12v line has a high enough rating for the purpose. ATX is likely to be better.

Good, thanks. The AT power supply does have a seperate on/off switch. Looking at the output it seems more than ok.

Thanks for your help.
