I think some people would be rather dissapointed with this product, on the box it has a nice looking yacht with the ETNZ paint matching almost perfectly with a real ones. Inside the box the yacht looks nothing like the one pictured..

Braden Conza, is that yours? It's the first one I've seen sailing since pictures were published of it at last year's Nuhremburg toy fair.
It's been mentioned a few times on this forum and I think many would be interested in knowing how it handles in the flesh and the general build quality, cosmetic problems notwithstanding.

Sorry mate, they are just some pictures sourced from the web, I to am interested in it, but when I saw photos of the actual item I was some-what dissapointed with its apperence.

That looks really good.

If the Thunder Tigre engines are anything to go by - the quality ought to be excellent !

Keven, their Victoria is probably one of the most popular kit boats worldwide and good value. On the other hand, Pompebled had to make some drastic changes to his Voyager to overcome some inherent design/materials problems - awful sails, bendy mast and booms, sail is sleaved on mast, downwind submarining etc.
The consensus seems to be at the moment that the ETNZ is going to be more than a handful as is in medium/string winds.

I have a Thunder Tigre catalogue featuring the Victoria among others - including the small 'Aussie' - one of which I have in the cupboard - so I know about the masts and sails...

The answer to a model that is a handful in medium/strong winds - simply make the model with sails that can be reefed !

I would assume that the manufacturer of the engines is not the same as that of the boats ( ! ) - and that, more importantly, different quality control regimes exist for each...

'OUGHT TO BE' being the operative words...!

When I see what the price will be, I expect a significant better kit than the Voyager.

I most surely hope the ETNZ will sail out of the box like the Sea Wind.

Regards, Jan.

Does anyone else think that hull is rather stumpy looking in plan view?

Etnz

Just ordered one today . I should receive it in few days and i will try to post pics as soon i'll get it to clarify the unclear trim finish (the one with lots of details or the simple one as pictured on the Thunder Tiger Europe site).

I have a theory, maybe the one pictured sailing on water is the test yacht ?

It's already available here in Canada at www.greathobbies.com at 269.99 CAD.

hi guys, the etnz does come fully stickered like on the box, is a well done kit, but has limitations as do the thunder tige rrange.

having sold over 300 thunder tiger boats, mainly victorias (with our upgrade packs standard) we have been awaiting the etnz for 2 years!!

shall try to take some pics sailing this week between my footy building!!!

anyone buying one, the deck on our first display boat has concaved under the weight of the keel in the sun, a foredeck reinforcing plate should fix this.

sails are average , but will work ok.

deck hardware, winches etc are close to tamiya standard (my benchmark the tamiya w60 kit "yamaha", well molded, but needs a carbon rig!)

when we get time will modify a etnz to have a lightened IACC type boom!!

so kit is a good price and a basis for a great sail!!!

(but footys are perhaps more fun!!!)

Thunder Tiger ETNZ

Just got my kit from Ultimate Hobbies in California 234.95. The kit has the
exact decals for the New Zealand America's Cup Entry. The photos
that Braden is showing is a test boat in Germany. If you build it right it will
sail ok. Probably only modifications I will do is Carbon Fiber Mast and Booms.
It is a beatifull kit.

Wicked! I was hoping it would be the same as on the box! Any chance of some pictures? And close ups of the TX? It looks interesting! 234.95? That sounds like a good price compared to other hobby outlets retailing at 299USD, Does this yacht fit IOM regulations?
