Sweet! I love that "sting" on the wing.

Good luck with your maiden.

OK, it's not the sting.

It's the extra wing area to compensate for the lift loss due to fuseludge so the elliptic lift distribution is maintained .....

I'll leave it to "Giant Manta Ray" to confirm if this is a correct statement.

Wohooo!
Got a chance to maiden my Manta
Despite of 15mph wind, it took it outside and had total sucess.
Only the place i flew it was a total cr*p, 60x40 meters and trees and houses around it, very turbulent air.
I've flown a rudder/elevator dlg in wind, but this eleron/elevator dlg is a windfighter
Totally satisfied!
Thanks Geode

Maiden in 15 mph wind ...... You're certainly a very confident pilot!

Now you make me thinking about take my beat-up Manta, add some lead and check it out on the slope ..... A Manta racer ?

After maiden and posting here i took it to a little hill, kinda slope soared there. Longest flight was 2 minutes maybe, too gentle slope for any reasonable lift.
Flew again this afternoon.
Wind was the same but this time at a totally flat field. Today's record was 1min20 seconds.
No thermals with this hard wind.

I notice the launch peg is located on the spar, perhaps for structural reasons. However, I'd assume that when placing your fingers onto the peg that the trailing edge of the wing will catch in between the webbing of the fingers thus not allowing the wing to rotate further as if the peg was placed much further aft on the wing.

This reduced rotation will result in lower launch heights.

Has anyone tried locating the peg further aft?

Thanks
Curtis

A vid of my manta. Very turbulentic air. wind blows just from there where long trees are, the air doesnt "carry" the plane at all, just had to show my manta to some guys from our club: http://media.putfile.com/Mart-plaanerdab
