I did it! I ordered the short kit.

I am having a hard time figuring out how long my boom should be. It says "Taboo, Raptre, or SGII compatible boom", but I don't have any of those, never seen one, and the specs for those available all send me off to some other plane.

How long are your fuses, guys?

Geode!!!

It is so nice to hear from you again. I hope all is well with you. I should be starting my Manta build later this summer, thank you for a great design that allows people to build and fly a nice DLG without breaking the bank. If possible I am going to try my hand at a Bumblebee XL wing also. It is such a beautiful design that it simply must be built.

Wayne

Hi Wayne, I'm doing fine. Just busy with other things in life.

Glad you like Bumblebee XL. Build it light and you'll be rewarded (even better than Manta) ;-)

Now let's move on to M2!

Time to start a new build.
Let's start the Manat II here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1610799

I am happy to say, that in the past few years, Manta DLG was build almost all over of the world. I did not expect such popularity and I must admit, that this rcgroup and other discussion forums helps a lot to spread the word about this sailplane.

Thanks rcgroups, thanks members of this group, thanks builders of Manta, and many more... I feel great because of you all!

With best regards!
Geode

P.S.: For those who have trouble finding the right files. Here are the links (both unlocked)

Geode! Hi neighbor!

I'll look for the proper fuse lengths the next time I'm on the computer. (using a smart phone right now.) Dom (Dbaya on BayRC) gave me a couple generic fuses to fiddle around with. If they match the requirements, I'll just use one of them, after replacing the tails.

Any chance of seeing that fabulous birdwing flying wing you made? Just that one blog photo is such a tease!

Where do you fly, generally? I admit, all I have airborne right now is a Gentle Lady, so I tend to stick to places with a winch, a bungee, or a hilltop with a decent breeze.

Generic fuse should be just fine. Just size the tail feathers accordingly to keep the tail moment constant.

I fly coyote hill (slope) and Tuscany hill (dlg & electric in the morning, sloping in the afternoon) most of the time. This is where birdwing sacrifice to the wind god :-(

Oh, goody. A little bit of spruce, and some super light sheeting, and I'm ready to go!

Speaking of wing.... On the wingtip pieces, do I align the holes, sandwich them together, then sand until the steps disappear?

That's too bad about the birdwing. I guess all planes are on loan from the wind god, and need to be returned at their time.

I've been to Coyote. Nice there. Nice winds, nice view. I'm not familiar yet with Tuscany, though.

That's correct. I also highlight the "valley" of the step with RED sharpie so I won't over-sand into the underlying layer.

Cool. Thanks for the tip on the Sharpie. I'll use that.
