I use three flight phases:
Normal: 10° of elevator up/down and 20° of aileron up/down. This is perfect for general smooth flying, carving big figures and doing rolling maneuvers.
Max: 12° of elevator up/down and 32° of of aileron throw up/down. It gives me maximum roll rates and carving abilities... great maneuverability for close in flying (AKA in-your-face).
Thermal: 8° of elevator, 12° down elevator, 12° of aileron throw, and slight up elevator (reflex). This gives me best "float" for staying in thermals or when "scratching" in low lift conditions.

5.5mm will be fine if that works out better for your setup or availability. The 1900 on 6S and 6x4 will be pulling around 70A unloaded on healthy batteries, so not enough that smaller connectors will cause a problem.

Awesome little field tool for speed checks. It's as accurate as stand-alone doppler analysis programs, though it misses a pass now and then. But it's good.
Long as you know if you see 135, 138, 131, and 219, there's one pass to throw out

The reasons for the 5.5mm are that they come on the Zippy batts and I have a bag of ten pairs for the esc and pigtail setup...

SPEED and NOISE!!!!
I've been sitting on my latest Demon 40 for over six months, waiting for weather, schedule and motivation to all line up.
Finally they did this weekend
This Demon runs a 36mm motor. We've very nearly topped out the speeds that can be got on 28mm motors (though I figure Peter M may be holding back a little on his performance numbers )
...So into the 36mm realm of beasts I go!
The new plane can run 9S 4400mah (3 x 3S) as max battery.
Maiden flight was with:
7S 4400mah 65C
Mega 22/30/1.5SE 1707kv
7x5 Sport prop
ICE 100 ESC (soon to be replaced with CK's 160A 9S ESC)
full size HV digi servos. I forget what model.
AR 7000 receiver
2S 600mah Rx pack
The plane is not much heavier than my 16/40/2E powered Demon running 6S 5000mah.
It carves the turns just like a Demon should!
7x5 Sport prop took care of the maiden flight, and the motor was bone cool at 155mph level, no wind.
Ready for some serious speed, I put on the 7x7 without looking at the 7x5 data log. In flight the ESC repeatedly hit overcurrent cutoff no matter how gently I tried to get to full power. But ooh boy the plane was moving!
Looking at the data log, I can see why! The 7x7 prop on 7S pulled 198A and 5000W!! Whoopsie. Good thing it only had to bear it for a half second.
Looks like 7x6 prop will be the ticket on 7S.
Running 6S will let me run 7x8-7x10 props at 30K RPM to run the pitch speed through the roof
I have no reservations now about putting a much larger motor and 9S into the plane. The Demon flies so well, I know it can take the extra pound and still not threaten to fall out of the sky.
Future setup may be...
Mega 22/40/2.5SDE at ~1385kv, or
Mega 22/50/2DE around 1450kv
Them some big motors

I haven't flown a Demon since July after my so called speedy one couldn't break the necessary 181mph mark. I think 176 was the best it could do so was tossed aside. So disappointed I didn't even bother recording any data.....
I like what you have done with running a 36mm motor, 7 inch props and up to 9 good sized cells.

Hmm, all this talk of 7-9 cells makes me want to do the same with my D40. Problem is, it's probably the only D40 that i'll ever build and I want to make the best out of it. Up until now, I have been planning it to be a 6s build running the rocket 28-56-1900 on 6x4, 6.5x3.7, or possibly 6x5 with only short runs of WOT.
Now I am seriously considering going at least 7s...
