I was afraid it would blow apart. I don't think I copied it on the log but motor RPM was in the 42,000s.
I couldn't be happier with the maiden (unless my motor wouldn't have signed off). Plane is still perfect.
Question for you motor heads.... can I get this motor rewound and maybe at a lower KV .

Brolley,
I have every 16-40-xx there is ...............
All NIB, (except I did a resistance test with my MEG-ohm meter) and have never been run.

Tell me what you want, its on its way to you and you can send me the exact replacement (after its rewound) for what I send you

otherwise you have to wait for mail to Czech republic and back.

Pick your wind .................. 16-40-xx

Let me know ......................

or
you can send to MEGA and have rewound to your liking.

Brad,
The best wind really depends on what you want to do: Run WOT for long periods with say a 6x4 or 8 second drags followed by cool down glide?

Once you decide, I reckon Mopar will pick out the best wind for you!

Regards
Peter

PS: Sorry, congratulations on your maiden. I could relate to the story about getting carried away. Last time that happen to me I had to stamp my burning ICE 100 out with my thong (flip flops) and send my fried 16/40/1.5SC back to Dan for some loving.. But the crowd always like some destruction I find!

I have to ask a favor from a friend, but I think if you mail the burned motor to MEGA with tape around it that reads MOPAR, I will ask to have MEGA rewind it and send it to me ..........have to eithor send me the cabbage or have Dan charge your card, have to see what my friend says................ if thats OK with you ?

Nice stories guys. I am getting nervous just reading. I beefed up my funjet to 4s running CK's 28/40/2500kv to get some practice in.

Slow and steady progress on the Demon 40.

Just waiting for my Mega 16/25/2 EC to arrive. Should be here next week.

this is one of the WOT passes from my last flight. looks like there is a bit of headroom.

also looks like i put the wrong pole count in, should be more like 30k rpm

and the batts are not holding very much voltage under load...

Yes, a change to 6 poles will make more sense!

I would be happy with 3.52 volts/cell if we were talking about a couple thousand watts, but for half a kW you should expect more. Were your batteries really cold? You haven't been storing them charged have you?

But keep flying and post some video please!

I am finishing up my rite-weave. Just a few quick questions

Since the rite-weave layer gives some, does the spackle layer tend to crack over time?
Does the laminate stick to the painted spackle or do you need to coat it with 3m90?

Thanks!
Rob
