That's awesome Brosius.
Almost finished , I need about 3 oz of weight to balance at 7 1/2 " from the nose. How are you guys adding ballast?
One more Q, how much control throw? I'm gonna set controls to neutral then add 3-4 clicks of up trim before launch. Just need to set throws and fasten winglets.

originally i think i had them set around 10mm for both elevator and aileron up and down in each direction but that was WAAAY too much. im sure 5mm each way for everything would be fine for a starting point.

and yeah trim it so it is even with both the top and bottom, i trimmed mine like the ZII for the maiden and it almost did a death loop right off the bat! by the time i added enough down trim it had so much altitude it was almost out of sight!

so yeah an 8th of an inch would be heaps and for the maiden make sure you have a little headwind to assist the launch!

i added a good handful of fishing sinkers (lead ones) before i got mine in front of the 7 1/2 inch CG mark, i think it would be better a little more nose heavy still. the next few flights will get it dialled in and i will let you know where my CG ends up.

Brad,

Usually when I see no expo with thumb flyers it is usually even less throws due to the nature of the huge thumb movments.
Expo is a bad habit to get into, doing this to cure the over steer and touchyness is not good.

Taking the time to set the rates rite and tune the plane so it flys best is much better..

Alot of guys fly it and say its too touchy and dial in expo, thats wrong in my book.
Murd from my experiance I see most people who fly and set up the Demons do it fairly close to what most others do.

The Demons need hardly any throws.

When I work with people of weening them selfs of xpo I say take out 5% every flight ,the adjust your rates between flight to feel rite.
Do this untill it is gone.
Good luck with your maiden!

Regards
Peter

Oh, I have video but since it didn't break 181mph straight and level I've been too embarassed to post it and waste everyones time.

It is really nice to fly even though it's probably only second best.......

Ritewing Demon 8 July 2012 (5 min 36 sec)

Not sure whether that was the warm up or the fast runs video but it was a bit ho hum as it was overshadowed on the day by my Stryker Q that did 199mph two way average.

I need to spend a bit more time developing it I think as it is nice to fly as I said earlier.

Cheers
Peter

Well I didn't have to add 3 ounces to CG it.... I had to add 5! She's gonna be a heavy chevy. Thinkin 4.5 pounds, maybe a little more.

I guess it's pretty much ready, don't know if I am though.
