I am running a CC Phoenix 35, for 4s the amps go up so a 45-60 may be needed.

For me 3s is fast enough.

Use the spektrum ds821 servos, they can be had cheap and are great, when using standard size servos metal gears are not really needed. The hs5475's are good the 5645's are just fine as well.

Run the ARC 28-47-1.5 on 4s its the best! Its faster then the 16-25-3 on 6s.


Regarding Micro Lightning questions.

Nuerofun: For me I tried to get mine as light as possible, thats why theres no covering. It will withstand more abuse with covering.

While we're on the subject, I'm nearing up my Mini Lightning build and am concerned about the floppyness f the airfoil near the wingtips. Should I be concerned about that at all? "

Not really as the elevons will help keep it solid, but you can add cf strips if you like, do as you see fit.

I've had the servo dip happen before as well, it seems the hot glue caused this maybe? Not sure but next time do the PU trick in those areas as well.

Wow... that would really put a hurtin on my batts. Think I'll stick with 3s and keep the wing on the less expensive side.

Well I now see that running 4S or more I need a Ubec, Can anybody recomend one and where ot buy it.

Are you guys running a seperate battery on the ubec.

No ubec I use a 6v 5cell 2/3 aaa nimh it is way better and gives off no noise.The 4s is great on the arc 1.5 turn motor,i can get you all the gear if you need. Even the small nimh batt.

I was looking through this thread, and I like the way you guys are using fiberglass and spray adhesive. Can someone fill me in on where to find the adhesive spray and fiberglass mesh material? It looks like the stuff you use on drywall seams. I use 3M Super 77 all the time. Is it the 3M Super 90 that you are using here?

if you look at the start of this thread "thermalking" there is a great how to section....only 1730posts ago you will see the materials and where to get em lol.

Thanks for the reply. My bad. I swear I looked but did not see that post. Does the 3M 90 dry so it is non tacky. I have a wing which I want to re-cover, so that is why I am interested in this method. I do alot of composites fabrication. What about just using a vacuum bag and some laminating epoxy. My guess is that that would be too brittle and the fiberglass with 3M 90 is fairly ductile. 3 Weeks to go untill SEFF. Now with several projects underway I have to figure out whether I can fit this one in. So many tough decisions and so little time...

Yes after 24hrs or so the 3M90 has almost no tack left to it but the monokote grabs on good.

I would use the s90 it does dry almost tack free but after your last coat of s90 let it set open in the air for 2 days this will ensure the lightest build because all of the solvents will flash off. also the mono coat sticks better when there is no solvent vapor trying to escape
