Hi guys ,
I am modeling wing with intention to cnc mill molds later. The shape can be seen on the picture I have attached. What is the most efficient way of protruding airfoil to make this shape ? One way is to produce a lot of cross-section sketches and use LOFT tool- this way seems OK , but takes too much time. Another idea is to select leading edge and trailing edge lines as guide for an airfoil to follow, the problem is that I have now idea how to do this- Please help ! I am using Solidworks .
Yes , I know that sweep tool can be used , but I am still experiencing problems with that ! what should be selected as path ? what should be selected as guide curves ?
Yes , I have used tutorials , and I can only say that they are very general , not going deep into the details.
Ok, what about using the loft tool? I would use the leading and trailing edges as guide curves. These would have to be two different sketches. Then use your root airfoil as your profile. You don't need to use lots of airfoil profiles. Just use a root, then perhaps the profile located near the wing tip.
This probably didn't nail what you were looking for but its a start. Let me know if I can be of more help.
Here is a rough example of what I mentioned.
