Ocala Flying Model Club - Florida
Just wanted to start a little thread for those who are members of this great club. Probably the best field in Central Florida!!

The winds look great for flying tomorrow. I have a .40 Decathlon (electric) to maiden. Also will bring the .50 electric MD530 heli..anyone else going?

Got to the field at 10am and Dom the club president was nice enough to meet me there to give me my new membership card. The weather was great, just a little wind that kept changing direction. Not too hot either. I expected more pilots there, but just a handful came out to fly. I got a lot of flight time in, maidened the Electrify Fokker and .40 Decathlon electric. Everything came home without a scratch too!!

Brad,
Are you driving from Orlando or have you moved to Ocala? I agree it is one of the best if not the best flying sites in Florida. The Fokker is real nice, but I love your Decathlon. Joe |

Joe, I am driving from Orlando. I am thinking about moving to Ocala one day, if I could find the right job up there. The drive is very easy, all highway for me. I live close to I-4 north of downtown. It is about 75 miles from my door to the field. Takes 1 hour to get there, but it's an easy drive- especially since I got Sunpass for the tolls. I-4 west to the E/W x-way, turnpike north to I-75 then to exit 341, not a bad ride if you go early and spend the day there. I am trying to get my friend to join so we can split the tolls/gas and then it's even a better deal. The field is great for maiden flights too as it is large and open, plenty of space to land off the runway for an emergency or dead stick. Thanks for the compliments on the Decathlon. It is very pretty, and built like a tank. It is an ARF from Thunder Tiger.

I currently live in Gainesville and am going to UF. I will be heading down there this weekend to see the field and get to know a few people! Have been flying for years but haven't done much during college, would be nice to meet an active club. -Steve

I'll be there tomorrow. finishing up my 1.20 Decathlon (electric!!) and hope to have it ready for a maiden tomorrow. 16 lbs/ 2700 watts 20x10 prop
