oh, and if you have Excel...here is a little scalable spreadsheet with major dimensions that scales to any WS you wish( WARNING this is NOT a TXT file...change file extension to XLS before using...the site won't allow me to uplaod a file with XLS extension)...
Very nice, could you post a 17" version?

Heli:

Thanks, nice simple updated plans. Maybe this will get the thread boiling. It's great to see some positive input here, as this is an exceptional flyer.

When balance right, the D. will do torque rolls all day long. Using the throttle, you can bring it right down to touch the tail and go back up, come back down, go back up...........even hop across the ground.

And, as you've found, it excels at inverted, you can even put the TX down, sit back in your folding lawn chair and enjoy .

I built one for a FB to use in combat. He flew only big scale stuff, mostly upright. On his first flight he was shooting inverted T n' G and was amazed he could pull it off. So much for a good design.

here tis.....I don't show on these plans the nose extension I've started to use, but if you want to mount your servos rearward, instead of close to the target CG, then just build the nose out a couple of inches...it also helps on prop hanging hovers since the longer the nose moment from the CG, the longer the pendulumn effect (ie slower swings when hanging)...

I build the airframe, then add the servos , RX, and battery, then just cut the nose box back until the motor and esc balance it at 27-30% of length..

Well, so much for I don't have a good plan excuse....

Can I be just a little bit picky though. Can you take out the green cross hatching. That is alot of ink to run through a printer according the the better half.

There's enough info on this thread that it can be built without a plan. It's just a half circle with a rectangle added and a big lazy 'S' for an airfoil. With all the measurements available you can draw the plan on the foam and save a step, or two.

The airfoil is easy, note the high and low points, then connect with something flexible like a steel ruler, length of CF or a French curve.

No more stallin', get busy................

One might want to make the S shaped airfoil no more than 4% thick for best performance... Just FYI

Here is a dumb question. Do you mean that the material thickness should not be more than 4%? Or are you talking about the height of the airfoil? Or is it both added together?

A good piece of information....thanks,

Ray

Height of the airfoil... divide the chord (usually the Root chord) by the height of the airfoil "under side" at it's highest point .. IE 16" divided by 100 x 4 = .64"

Are you kidding? Our forest fire fighting bill has now reached over 400 million, only 340 million over budget and someone has to pay.

Just shaved 1.75 ounces off my 9.5 ounce Flop and just heading out to see if the diet worked as planned.
