OK.. word of warning to anyone then.. the "Blue" lippo's are HUGE.. lol
Actually I can "just" slide it in now.. I had to pull the wires forward and then shrink the wrapper some more to keep them at that angle. It's in.. but it's a squeeze.

@ denial15 - How long do you get with that? I'm waiting for my order from HK - I wish I had tacked one of those on.. at 21.06 how are you finding it??

AND.. what is that connecter called.. I need an adapter for my charger..
Tx..

I like that battery quite a bit. I have the Park 400 4200kv motors in mine. Depending on throttle usage, I can get anywhere from 3.5-5 minutes. This glides forever, so If I'm flying relaxed I can milk it for quite a while. Full throttle usually puts about 80-85% (2,600+mAh) back into the pack after 4 min.

I probably have 10-15 flights on each pack (I have two), and they seem to be holding up well.

The connectors are the XT60's. I ordered some of the male connectors and made some adapters for the planes that still have the deans.

Oh, yeah.....oops. I don't use those. I still had some deans style connectors when I got those batteries, so I took off a couple inches of that heavy wire and added a deans.

I'll probably use the XT60's on all my normal stuff from here on out. If I get some serious hankering, I'll switch everything over. But with 18-19 planes with deans on the esc's, that's got to be some serious hankering.

EDIT:
Those red ones are HXT 4mm bullet connectors.

Last spring, I decided I was tired of Deans and the knock-off so I too the XT60 plunge. Spent a few hours transferring every thing to XT60s and haven't looked back. Did have one casualty, miss soldered one ESC and when I connected the battery, the magic smoke got out. One think I really like about the XT60 is that I don't get any arking ever.

Is there a built in resistor pin or contact ?
Or is the arc just out of site ?

The arc seems to happen with higher voltage packs. As you get closer to connecting, there is a "zap." Anyone else?

The second F-15 just arrived.

The first F-15 was converted to a pusher.
Would like to up the top speed & duration with a gearbox.

Does the combo below look about right ?

4 1100 mahr B & D LIFEPO4 cells...Have to use them.
Plane is 17 oz. cells are 6.7 oz...24 oz RTF.

4 minutes...31 oz. static thrust...63 mph on the ground...186 watts input. 160 watts output...full flying elevators... no rudders.

Well.. I'm slower than a pickle, but I'm getting there. Lots of soldering done, plenty harnesses to make yet. and you can see how big the Blue Lipo is..

Looks like Edwards Air Force Base, maintainance shop.
Way to go.

I am doing a more powerfull version of this driveshaft, pusher. It allows the COG to be perfect by maving the motor, ESC & battery anywhere it needs to be. Cut the driveshaft to length when the COG is right.
Those tiny BB in wood blocks take 30,000 rpms.

GWS F-15 Elevons mixed (0 min 11 sec)

Nosewheel is all set.. Have to secure and maybe do a bit more digging for the mains though.. Although I think I'm very close to the limit?

GWS F-15 Stearable retracts (0 min 22 sec)

Here is a throw together. Everything is functional.. just a LOT of tuning to do yet...

Looking good! The throws on the elevons are HUGE - almost comical looking. Folks wonder if the park servos will handle such throws - they do and don't get loose and wobbly. I'm at work now - will measure the throws (in feet <grin>) when I get home if you need the measurements.

Merry Christmas all!
