SPORTWING!!!!

Just a goofy question.
Is there a big difference between a J250 and a SP280?
Thanks Ray

Bob, good news. The Blu Baby 2 came back home yesterday while I was at work. Only damage was that the rudder was loose and had to be reattached. Can't help but wonder if the rudder came loose before the tree landing or as a result of it. Given the way things happened, I'm beginning to think that I didn't have the rudder well-attached and that was the cause of encounter with the tree. Guess I'll never know for sure. But at least I got the Lesser Spotted Weevil.

Flew the repaired BB2 early today. It was just great fun. Lots of T&Gs with no problems.

Tony, you are the man! Thanks so very much for your work on the new templates. I think I'm going to have to try the 42".

Pat... My rudder and stab were a little loose after my episode as well so I foamenated them a little for reinforcement. Glad BB2 is back in service. Bob

OK folks, you asked for it. Here are the plans for the Blu-Baby Park 42" and the Blu-Baby AP 52". As well, Bob's Bird Dog was so inspiring, I did a semi-scale fin and rudder for those of you wishing to "Bird Dog" your BBs

Enjoy,

Tony

PS: I really gotta start building
Uao, new plans, new building !! :O)
Thanx for the great job, man !

Alex

Mayday, I haven't seen Tony's recommendation, but here what I did on my second BB. In the pix, the front of the fuse is to the left. Basically, I pushed all the components as far forward as possible. I have a very light motor (Westport 22.5mm/20T CD), so it doesn't add much weight on the front end.

CG is right-on and the plane is very stable in the air.

EDIT: Thanks to Ray for pointing out that this fuse is wider than what is on the plan.

PS I don't recommend the Bluebird Rx, but am using what I have.

What battery are you using ? I'm making mounts for servos now and wondering if I need to keep them as far forward as I can. My tail is 2 popsicle sticks 2 blind nuts and 2 4-40 X 1/2" heavier. I'm using a 24 gram Blu-Wonder and a 68 gram 3s lipo.

Hey, Nubee!

I'm using a 2s 620mah (37g) and a 2s 800mah (47g). Because the battery is located at or very near the CG, I don't think the weight of the battery (within reason) is an issue. I think you'll find that the BB requires very little power to operate.

All I can tell you on the servos, Rx, etc. is that moving them as far forward as possible worked great for me. You might consider just sitting your components where you think you want them, add the battery, then check the CG.

Hey FirstShirt
Isn't that a picture of your wide body baby blu?
The one with the stacked sheets of epp?
If it is, doesn't it have more room inside for servos and running gear than the original pinkfoam monoblock design?
Just curious.
I also was wondering where to mount the equipment.
Thanks Ray

Mine is a 2" pink one but to use a micro control rod cut in half my servos will be right up even with back of monoblock. I'd like to see where the motor wires go threw the block. I guess i'll cut a grove in top.

Oops! Ray, you're absolutely right. Both of mine have a wider fuse. So, yes, I have more room for equipment than in the fuse shown on the plan. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll do an edit on that post.
