Paint is cool too.

Packing tape, and vinyl sign marking material Io not use spray glue, but I do post iron the "covering" on. Since I use an old Monocote iron,ot sure of temp, but in the medium range. Testing first helps.

Interesting is that at just the right heat, you can see the tape suck into every nook and cranny. Works really well. If not hot enough, doen't help at all.

Give it a try.

A quick guesstimate is about one out of every two or three pages. Probably somewhere between 300 and 600?

Mine flies next week (finally got all the stuff in for radio and build supplies last Friday, mostly completed over the past weekend). All I have left is installing servos/pushrods.. about one evening... and it is ready to go.

I have finally mastered all of the airplane models on FMS, so at least I have a chance of keeping it in the air for more than 30 seconds!

I've built and flew the 42 as my 1st scratch-built mono-block, but only lasted a month because that's how long I was into the sport and already trashed the EPP I got for Christmas. 8 months later, I've done the 33 want to try the 25 and maybe the 12. Also, through all the help from RCGroup members and thier build instructions, I have been able to rebuild my original EPP from Christmas and it's back in the air.

The Blu-Baby thread should never die, my kids kids should be able to learn off this thread. Somebody should download this, put it on a removeable disk and bury it in a time capsule for the future to enjoy!

Thanks Tony65X55, your name will be remembered FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

Well this is the first blu babe constructed and now I went to the 42 inch, did it with no dihedral and ailerons, it's a very nervous airplane. I'll put some pics later. Meanwhile here's a video of my first blu baby.
PS I never flew any other plane better than this. IT'S GREAT!!!

Add a few more... I've built at least a half dozen of them over the past year. I only have pics of the last two...

The BB24 is a quick little plane... definitely not as stable or floaty as the 33 with UC wing. She is a lot of fun to fly though!

Great landing! I love those kind of landings!

The caption on YouTube says the wind was more than 25 km. (15.5 MPH), that is a tribute to your flying skills and the Blu Baby too.

If the flat wing is "nervous" you may be over controlling it, try some exponential and maybe lowering the rates. That should be lovely flyer too. Post a video of the 42 when you get a chance.

It must be sacred...

I'm impressed no one bumped this thread for post #15k yet...I guess it's a testament to what it means to everyone!

I'll get everything primed and ready for that special someone though! A friend and I are getting ready to build a few BB's and I wanted to toss out my ideas and see what everyone thinks...first a little bit about us. My friend has built several planes andhas never flown, but I'm hoping I can help him out with this trainer (he keeps saying he wants to build it and let me fly it, I told him no ). I've flown an EZ* until there was more tape and epoxy than foam but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would take it out to the small airport near my parents' home and fly no matter how much wind, which was both thrilling and devastating to say the least. It's been a while since I've flown (about a year), so we're both *planning* on putting in some time on a sim such as FMS or RC Desktop Pilot (yay free sims!).

We'll have a decent amount of room at a local elementary school to fly out at a large soccer/baseball field so I wanted to start with the BB42 and maybe work down to a 33 or 24 once it gets cold for some indoor flying. Readi-board construction, Kfm3 for the airfoil (easier to make and although I haven't flown one, but I think it will have good stall characteristics for us to learn with) and RET controls.

The power system is my big question though. I want to keep it flexible so we can go with a slo-fly prop or switch that out for some speed, my plan was the following:

D2627-1200, 10x4.7 SF prop and 2s lipo ~1000-1500 mAh
-or-
D2627-1200, 7x4 prop and 3s lipo (I have 2200 mAh batteries, but if that's too large I'm flexible)

That motor is from HobbyCity and according to THEIR motor data both setups pull 12A and have around 15-16 ounces of thrust (if I remember right...the files won't come up any more on the site). Opinions? Changes? I'm cutting templates out now and I'm excited to finally make a BB of my own!

Is it possible? This is the 15000th post? What a great plane, my all time favorite!

Paul

Thanks to everyone, especially Tony, who has contributed to make this plane and thread such a success.
