Putting it to 70 does over complicate the starting build. But yes you are right I wanted to setup with max and then back off. I think I ended up going about 4 turns out on the swash links to get it a hair below the top block. Then I adjusted the other links to get level at 0 pitch. I personally backed off to 60 which still gave me 13° + and -. I forget what my paddle pitch is at but it was within my acceptable range. You always balance your head and set your pitch before you start on CCPM interactions.
Don't clip the wires and especially the motor wires. They have an enamel coating that looks like bare wire but are in fact non conductive. Practice soldering and desoldering on some lamp wire or something then desolder that stuff and get it right. Also you can't tell what will happen to the battery. Check each cell with a multimeter and if you find one that is majorly less that cell is trash. Last time I had a small spark the battery showed signs after about 5 cycles. Yeah as long as the washers are sound you are ok. Plastic washers make me nervous. P.S. If you did cut the motor wires let's cross that bridge when we get there. We can get the enamel off but it is a pain. Last edited by HeliSmith; Jan 01, 2008 at 04:38 PM. |

I meant 4 turns on the starting position of the links. My links were perfectly correct from RC-TEK, absolutely perfectly level, but were not setup for maximum throw at 13mm out on the servo horn balls.

I just went to the RC-TEK store and a big closed was printed across the screen. I was like no no wait hold on. Then I read the for maintenance message underneath.
Ok I am a RC-TEK addict I can see this clearly now. Pretty soon I am going to have to contribute for bandwidth lol |

Another satisfied RC-TEK customer
Hi, Scott and RC-TEK had really liven up my Christmas and New Year.
Here's the "entry-level" but capable product from Scott which brought so much joy and excitement- My 'RCT-450' Airwolf Maiden Flight I certainly hope to see RC-TEK resume their operation. Best Wishes to all at RC-TEK. Many thanks and regards, Terence |

Man I just flew my heli in parking lot at work and I just want to say it again. Stable and absent of twitch. Such a different experience then flying my other helis in a tight space.
I am glad to see your are happy Terence. It's risky suggesting a heli to your friends but this one I felt confident in. I will watch those videos tonight I like Terence media videos. ![]() Edit: Terence nice man I watched your video. Last edited by HeliSmith; Jan 02, 2008 at 11:17 PM. |

i went to install the pinion on my motor and the 11t stripped out. i was putting the hex screw in and as soon as it contacted the motor shaft and i turned further it actually stripped out a whole complete round brass thread and spit it out the other end complete. i was like ok, maybe i was a little to rough, i had been turning like i would to install a hex screw on the servo or something, not too gentle not too rough.
so i go to install the 12T and i go super slow this time. and making sure the hex screw is level, no cross threading, nothing bad. it bites a little bit but doensn't seem like enough, another slight turn and the threads are stripped out. i now have two stripped out pinions and a grounded helicopter. F**K. it takes forever to get parts down here. i am missing something here, doing something wrong? looking at the pinion there is so little material with thread on it, it seems hard to image how you could get enough bite on the motor shaft given all the power it has to conduct to the main gear. i will order another few sets but that will take a few weeks to get here, in the meantime maybe someone can give me a pointer on installing pinions. oh, and helismith, the motor and esc solders were fine, it's just the batt pack deans that could use some work. the connections were a bit large to slip the heat shrink over, so am thinking of clipping a little wire and starting over. thanks ben Last edited by bgrisso; Jan 02, 2008 at 03:40 PM. |

I also chose not to use the pinions in my kit. All I can suggest is to buy the ones with the rims, not the ones that are threaded through the gear as that always happens to those kind in my experience.
You can trim a little off the ESC battery leads I usually try to avoid to but yeah I am fairly sure they are not enamel coated. |

brisso,
I could not look on the RC-TEK site to find an alternative pinion so I linked you to somewhere else in PM. Just find that kind of pinion as close to you as possible. I would not link you to another vendor except for the current circumstances. If you can wait for RC-TEK to get back to us you might should do that. |

I dunno with the site down. I imagine somewhere on the site they do because the have SJM too. If I were you I would probably just do what I had to in order to fly. I am an extreme addict though.

Hey if I couldn't fly for longer than a few days because of a missing part, and I couldn't order a new one trust me, I'll break out all my tools and make it out of paper or wood!!!
