SU-26MX 3D Full Fuz

Here is my latest. All 6mm Depron with the odd bit of ply and carbon here and there.

Still have a little bit of detailing to do. Model is painted in cheap poster paints.

Full fuz hollow laminated block core construction. This is the third model I have done this way and it works quite well.

See Post 8 for Link to the plans.

This is the second one I have built. I sold the first one and didn't get around to posting about it however it did make it into a pic in one of our australian modelling magazines.

Wingspan is 36"
AUW Around 16 oz.
Hyperion 2213/20
3S 1500 20C Flight Pack
Waypoint 84 Servos
JR 610 Rx
Hperion 30A ESC
APC SloFly 10x4.7 Prop
Hyperion Landing Gear (.10 size)

First one flew great. Expect the same from second. Model is largely profile scale.

Looks good, how did you attach the landing gear? I have a problem with mine ripping out fairly regularly.

The fuz is a solid laminated block where the landing gear goes. A ply plate is expoxied in with a couple of blind nuts. Works well and quite strong.
I have also successfully used a ply landing gear plate inserted as a blade in to a solid section of the fuz.

SU-26MX 3D Full Fuz Foamy

Hi Peter,

Like the full fuz style 3D. With a 36" WS and only 16oz AUW that must fly well.

What sort of wing spar / stiffening have you used ?

Nigel

(p.s. The Fokker Dr1 in my avitar is one of yours, the big one (36" WS), lands like its got a parachute attached !)

G'Day Nigel

I recognize your DR1 Avitar. it is certainly one of the best renditions of my DR1 design that I have seen. It could also be adapted to the full block fuz design.

For the SU-26 I used a 6mm Carbon tube spar full span inserted into a slot cut with my dremel. It is stiff enough. I also have a 1.5 mm ply servo mount plate for the aileron servos that sits over the top of the top of the spar in the
centre section. This plate stiffens things up further.

As promised plans should be available for download from the following (let me know if you have any problems:

http://home.iprimus.com.au/pmjass/G3R9L5/SU26MX.zip

The plans are free; however if you think a donation is appropriate then I'd be happy to receive it and put the funds towards buying more foam and preparing more designs. Paypal payments can be made to pmjass@iprimus.com.au

Next on the list is an Ultimate 10-300. I have a prototype half built and it is going together quite well.

I'm certainly not expecting payment and I know a lot of people do not even use PayPal. If you do build one a post in the thread with a pic if you have one will keep me more than happy.

Thanks for posting the plans, I won't have time to start on this one now, probably after our summer holiday. When I have got pics, I'll show them here.

I have been considering offering short kits of all the foam pieces cut.

Let me know if you would be interested and what you think I should charge.
(Kits would be shipped form Australia).

If I get 10 or so interested I will give it a go .
