What motor for T-Rex 600 w/14s or 15s A123
I am going to start using either a 14s or 15s A123 pack in my T-Rex 600 and would like to know which motor I need to get a 2000 - 2200 headspeed. The Z50A-600 or Z50A-800.

Im running a 740kv Actro 24-3 in mine on 15s.
So, A50-800 would be best match (780kv) If you use the Rotorworks frame, using the Z50's you need to trim the canopy. |

What about the Z50-800 with the stock frame? Will it fit without trimming?

I have a brand new Z50A-800 I got from Gary yesterday, its 48.45mm in diameter if that helps.

The stock frames need to be modified to fit the Z50A-800. I run 13s A123 with the 800 and was told going higher cell count would be pushing the rpm limits of the motor. My motor does not get hot at all, and have read others are testing this motor at higher limits with good results so far.

What headspeeds are you getting with the 800?

Im running 1950 h/s with the castle esc governed and dialed down with 13t Mikado pinion on 13s A123. Has plenty power for me just sport flying and get 6 min. flight times.

I have no idea how much it weighs, I need to get a scale. Wish I could get 10min. and I would be happy. I land before the cells dump but Im putting back close to max mah on charge. Maybe the warmer weather will help.

I've just fitted a Z50-600 in my stock frame. Just need to thin a small area on the frame with dremel. took me 15 minutes including clean up.
I am getting about 1800RPM with a 16T pinion and 10S lipo. This will be fitted into a scale fuse so it has the perfect headspeed. |

Hey PJPG,
I was thinking of running a 13 or 14s in my rex as well with z50-800. How are you mounting the battery's. Does it affect you CG at all? A picture of your setup would be great. Thanks again, Kster |

Kster, I mount a 10s brick and a 3s up front . CG is close , maybe a bit nose heavy but dont notice it in flight. Ill post a picture soon.
