From Leer to Kampen takes only a couple of minutes more...and there's plenty of space to "jump"
And as you can see lots of water for the puddle's..

pherhaps one time....

enjoy you'r stay, and the nice weather..

puddle twin 100% info

Hi Meatbomber (and al other enthousiasts),

i have red pretty much of the puddle twin on here. i also saw a lot of pictures and movie of it. only thing i can say I LOVE IT!!! i downloaded the plans and started to build one my own. i love the slow flyers. so this is the one i want.
i have a question though. there is a lot written here about cells, props, motors and esc's. also a lot of model sizes 100%, 35%, 50%, 200% etc.
the thing is i can not understand what i need for the 100% version. i hope that you or someone else can help me out here.

i use a simple 35mhz transmitter. i have some scrap plane flying experience.
so my questions is if it is possible to get some sort of clear list of what to order at hobby kings or rc technics to power my puddle twin 100% version.

it would be nice if it is able to fly strait up so i need enough power. i love to fly long sessions and i love it to fly it slow too so low total weight ( a little difficult i think because i want it from both ends)

can you or someone else give me a few good combinations of motor, prop, esc and cells?

i understand that some of you fly with double esc and those are able to act seperately? can i use some mixer then or just a y connection so i can also add ailerons?

please help me out here.

greetings dexter

Get 2ea KV1500 24g Motors, 2ea 8A ESCs and 2S 800mAh Lipo. That`s what`s driving my Acro Puddle and it goes straight up. I have the same Power combo in my Marlin scale flying boat and it flies a good 15mins at low power.
I use the Cherry 4 blade props on both but i`m not entirely satisfied as they are toomuch pitch for acroflight... the motors and ESCs get hot when you fly with a lot of power.
You can use a Y connector for the ESCs but then you use the possibility of differential power for water handling... that`s ok if you leave either the water rudder on or increase teh rudder size a bit. my Acro Puddle uses no water rudder and turns fine on water with rudder only, the rudder was increased in size about 20%

more info

meatbomber,

thanks for the quick reply. but there are still some things i do not get.

-what you mean by ea?

-where can i find the cherry props? i looked on hobbyking and rctechnics but i can not find them. and is there just one kind or do i need more info like 7X3 or something?

-did you mistyped in your former post about the esc? when i use a y i think i will not have the possibility of differential power for water handling am i right? i think you ment that and that is why i need the 20 % increase of the rudder or leave the water rudder.
i want to keep 1 channel for the ailerons so only one left for the throttle.

- what is the difference about a lipo 15c or 20c? what is best to take?

thanks again

greetings dexter

ps Gert also thanks for your reply but i think your puddle twin is a big one. i will make myself a plane with 83 cm wingspan. by the way i am also from the netherlands

The GWS 9050HD prop is a great prop for those motors. You'll get more thrust from the larger diameter, and less drag because it's an HD prop instead of SF. If you want speed, try the 8060HD... "Super Puddle"

Meatbomber,

i found this on hobbyking / hobby city:

is this right? the suggest 3 cell lipo. can i also run it with 2 then?
and can i add the props on this propsaver? or do i need to buy something else?

and i found a 10 amp esc of 8 grams for 12 euro. will this work?

Product: GX 10A Brushless ESC

i also found an other on hobbycity but this had also some negative ratings in between so it this ok to choose?

Hobbyking SS Series 8-10A ESC

help me!!

meatbomber,

i spend all evening and half the night (it is half past 2 now and have to work tomorrow poor me) reading all along the tread here. i see a lot of talkng about the esc motors etc. but i still can not get clear what kind of props you have on the 100% scale pt. i saw the pics and it is a 4 bladed black prop. i see a link posted by you to the 4 bladed prop but i think this one is for the bit 200% pt. i don't think it is this one 4 Blade EP Propeller 10x8.25/254x209.6mm"" can you please give me a link to the propper propellors and then i am saved and complete.

thanks again and sorry for giving you such a hard time.

good news is. i started cutting my depron for the pt

greetings eric

well problem is my 4 blade prop 7 x 3.2 is no longer in the hobbyking inventory or i would have sent you a link...
I still have a bunch so i didn`t have to think about a replacement yet... a 8 x 4 2 blade should work fine.. if the distance to the fuse is too small you can still trim the tips a buit.. just put the motor sticks on the outside of the middle rib instead of teh inside that will give you a few additional milimeters.

Eric, I'd advise you to ,use 2-blade props, they are more efficient than a tree- and way more than a 4-blade props. Except, ofcuz, if you going for the cool look The choice of the size depends entirely on your motor and your bettery (number of cells). Again, efficiency wise, I'd recommend a 3 cell battery, more volts means less amps and that's good

Hi,

thanks for the help guys. yesterday i ordered all the stuff at hobbycity. so now we wait. and then we hope to fly a pt too.

yesterday a small disaster with an other plane. made a first flight with flycam on top. everything fine until a powerfailure. plane down in a narrow canal. after 10 minutes looking for it my dad found it. only he did not stopped the flycam by using the right button. so no saved flight movie then. so be warned. always shut them off in the right way

greetings eric

ps i will post some pics of the pt if there is something to show you
