Remember 47, this is a pusher with a 39grm motor and the short fus balancing it may be a problem. Look for a motor of about 20-24 grms

i have built my mini cutlass and it just wont fly:S I have a blue wonder motor on it and 500mah hextronix 11.1v lipo. 7035 prop and tried to make it as light as i could. It may be the cg issue i guess or it is that im new to flying wings. when i threw it, it just made a loop and when i put the battery a bit more forward it just nosed in. Can any1 suggest me a proper cg location for mini cutlass?

tann, I found mine flew nicely with the CG 8½" back from the nose (just behind the 'nose doublers').

Try launching it without the motor running and adjust the cg until you can launch it level and get a nice glide.

Which Kv version of the Blue Wonder are you using?

Nice wing, thanks for the plan ! I am just building my mini Cutlass. But instead of EPP I am using 6mm depron - 2 ply. Planned setup is:

- AX 1806N 2100kv Brushless Micro Motor (19g) from unitedhobbies.com
- ESC 12A 10g
- 2s LiPo 620 mAh
- 2 x 9g servos like SG-90 or HXT900
- micro receiver ca. 7g
- prop. ??? but max 7" :-)

I'm designing around an EDF64 that I've fitted with a Blue Wonder 3000

And a KFm airfoil instead of carbon spars...

Finally Finished and maidened my 24"ws EDF EPP Cutlass (indoors ) today


The EDF worked great! - ~1.5:1 thrust to weight (7oz w/ 3x500)

The EPP worked great! (I hit everything, ceiling, walls, floor, other planes, and pilots

It will ROG from the gym floor with the little peg up front. Ground handling isn't too bad with the elevons!

A little bit of adverse yaw when flying slow / high alpha.

My 30 inch out of CellFoam 88 and it's not even glued together yet and with all the parts sitting on my digital scale . It's already 12 oz.!!!!!

I am using a TP 3 cell 1320 battery and CC thunder bird 18 esc. Battery is about 3 oz by it's self. and ESC is about 24grams.

Update, total airplane with carbon spars not glued yet , 155.6 grams or 5.5 oz. And this is with no electronics . (Two layers of 3mm foam on everything but cabin that is 1/2 inch foam I will cut down .)

Total weight with out glue or paint,,,,,, 337.3 grams or 12 oz.

Yes, Dan, Mine's about 1/2oz heavier than it needs to be, due to the fan shroud. A proped version with a 1700 Kv motor would be better all around, except the cool looks ROG, and sound

My battery is <2oz, the motor 1oz, and the ESC <1/2oz. 2 9g servos and a ~10g rx finish it up.

Great weather today, glad to get to fly the cutless with my 15 yo daughter at the camera. And it did cut my hand. I'll let you know how it is after the blood and tinging stops.

Thanks, I normally fly like my pants are on fire. It balanced right at 11 1/4" from the nose. I'm using a 2c 1300mah and a 6/4 prop to keep it light. It's about 10oz iirc. It's a good plane and easy to build with no bamboo or cf, just fiber tape top and bottom.
