3D Hobby Shop Extra 300 SHP Elect to Glow conv

Hello everyone,

I just had to do this because I've had this little 40 Surpass sitting around for 3 or 4 years and there has never been a scale looking 3D plane available for it. So I thought with a few easy mods I could have a 3D monster @ under 3 lbs.

Here are some pics of how I did it. Very easy and very simple.

Got any pics inside the fuse of the fuel tank etc. Is rudder pull pull?
Looks like a really neat conversion.

Very cool, man! Although you might have to take that "Powered by Torque Brushless Outrunner" sticker off the cowl

Thanks everyone for the positive feed back. Didn't know how well this would go over in this section.

sbmon,

I'll get some pics of the inside for ya but the fuel tank sets back to the wing tube, and my flight pack has to go back past the cock pit. The rudder servo is in the tail.

Yes that is an E prop14x7. I plan to break the motor in with a 12x6 APC prop then start experimenting.

I should be able to maiden before the end of the week.

I'm thinkin 30% nitro 18% oil and I'll have a 3D rocket. What can I say I did for the smell....

Might consider putting some covering over the lightening holes on the firewall/motormount, to avoid gooey oil all over your electronics/the internal structure.

O yea, I'll seal everything off before I fly it.

It should purtty neat. The plane seems pleanty strong enough to handle the little 4 stroke.

Hello gents,

Got the chance to fly the heck out of the glow conversion this weekend and let me tell ya it's frickin sweet. The plane flies extremly well with the OS 40 Surpass. I'll put up a few more pics later.

If anyone is looking for a plane to convert this one works out perfectly.

Ben, I was gonna buy another one to put my electronics in but I think I'll wait for the future and see what else you and Scott come out with. Gonna put the electronics back in my EF Yak.

Thanks guys for such a nice plane....
