Question
What Lipo's do You use on your Trex 450?

I've got a stock 450SA. I'm running a align 430 with a 12t pinion. Right now I''ve got a big old 2200 lipo 14C rating. I'm getting 10 minutes hovering.

What lipos are you guys using with success.

I guess it depends on what you consider success. I am using DN Power 2150 mAh 20C batteries which I am satisfied with mainly because they are relatively cheap and seem to deliver decent power. I only get about half your flight time with my setup but I run a high headspeed. I never fly the batteries more than 5 minutes and I have a resting charge of about 11.5v when finished which is my target zone.

DN Power 20 batteries are about $89 for two.

Damn, my resting charge is 10.8 to 11.2. Most times my lipo's come off the bird warm. I've got one e3 lipo 1600amp rated at 16C but it's garbage. It's brand new but will only give about 7 minutes and it comes off HOT. Scary hot. Resting voltage is usually 10.2. I've balanced the pack, but that didn't help.

Anyway, DN Power... I'll check it out.

Thanks,

I have run them down below 11.0 but my LiPo only lasted about 40 cycles and it was then toast so now I only run them down to about 11.5 or 11.4 at the lowest. These DN packs have had a ton of cycles on them and other than some slight puffing they are still kicking strong.

(disclaimer: just entering week 2 of TRex ownership)

I set my ESC to the "high cutoff", and have been stopping when the motor starts pulsing. I'm using the Align 2100 mAH 22C batteries that came with the v2. With that setting, it's supposed to do that at 3.2V per cell, which makes 9.6V total. They come off the heli warm, and once they've cooled, it's typically been about 3.4 or 3.5 when I've plugged them in.

I noticed that finless said in the videos that he uses the middle cutoff which is 2.9V each or 8.7V.

Are you implying that I'm probably draining them too far, and thus risking their longevity? 11.0V seems like it would be pretty short flights.

I'm using an Align 2100mAh, 16C pack in my rex (JGF 450TH, 11 tooth, 335PRO blades) and get about 10 minutes of flying.
I land at about 9 minutes, and when charging, the battery takes from 1600 to 1800mAh, wich seems fine by me.

It depends. For example, for a 2000mah battery @ 1amp charge, it should take 2 hours.
Right guys?

I slow charge mine with a balance charger at 0.6C which usually takes about 2 1/2 hours or so to charge.

I fly TP Extreme 2070's and 2200's. I prefer the 2200's with the 430L and the 13-tooth pinion just for the overhead, but we'll see what happens with the Neu 1107h-1.5y!!

I had a TP Prolite 2100 puff just a bit on me when my belt was too tight, so I won't use those packs for sure! Overhead is always good if you can afford the weight...

The 2200's come down around 105 degrees after about 6 minutes of HARD flying.

I charge at 1C (or maybe slightly less), so charge times are always around 1 hour. I have the TP 1010C and the 210 balancer so I could theoretically charge faster, I just choose not to since the packs are so much $$$.

I'm using a mixture
Hyperion 1800 20c -
yuntong (came with the heli) that is a 2100 20c
2 x 1700's again 20c
2 x 2200 hextronix 20c
all are great - resting temps are
hyperion 11.x
yuntong 10.7 to 11.0
hextronix 10.8 to 11.0
all balance well and perform great.
Im running high head speed and hover for about 8 to 10 mins - all depends on what pack.
the hextronix are from here they have the align balancer attached.
$32.50 each.

Hey brovic777, do you also use the dn charger,or a different one? I am also looking at using these, but I am not sure what ends to put on them for a different charger. I read where theses lipos have reverse polarity for the charger.

I have a TP 11.1v 2100mAh 15C continuous/24C burst lipo and was wondering what would be the best voltage to run the battery down to in order to get the maximum number of cycles out of it.
Specs:
T-Rex 450SA
430L 11t pinion
BL25G ESC
325 Fiber (will be woodies as soon as LHS gets some in stock)

Anyone have any suggestions??

TP are #1

2nd The new align 22c are really nice if the reseller gives you a good deal on them.

3rd DN power, best bang for the buck... cmon, $90 for 2 packs cant beat that
