19th July

Hi guys and girls,
Nice day at the lake today, despite a chilly start, it actually almost felt like summer by the end of the afternoon, small but dedicated turnout.
We are having a night sail on the 2nd of August because we enjoyed the last one so much.
I tried the Brush-less Springer on 12 volts blew a 15 amp fuse so I robbed a 30 amp one out of the car, results in one of the pictures.

The fishing was awesome, best catches were a 50 lb Giant Trevally and I pulled up a 350 lb estimated Grouper, protected so was cut off at the boat. No marlin unfortunately, the weather was quite rough the first day out.
Regards
Nick

The grouper pulled enough amps that it took 2 beers at 7:00 in the morning to recharge,
Control line?, I'm not sure who was in control me or the fish,
The lake is fresh water but boats still need a wash off because of scum. Its not the cleanest water as it doesn't get replenished constantly, only from local storm water run-off.

Sunday 27th Jully

A really nice day, only problem was the water level. Its getting ridiculous. Bill stalled his scooter on the path and it never ran again for the rest of the day, I don't know if it is repairable or not . Its Ironic that 6 months ago we were complaining of not enough water.

We had a BBQ with fish rather than bangers courtesy of my recent expedition

Noel was down with his hurricane and $15 E-bay special. he runs it stock except for a 9.6 volt battery(7.2 volt stock battery) which really makes it scoot. The fast electric guys were down in force though not members of the club they make sure there aren't any frequency conflicts or other mishaps, (thanks guys). one of them has an Arrowwind E-bay 0.99 cent special that does over 100 Kph with some modifications
Rick with his Tito Neri and Atlantic, Col with the Amsterdam/Mariner and BP Enterprise. John Darke ran his Sargent Darke with Lipos, It sits 1/4 inch higher in the water and reaches the same speed with less voltage than the NiMH he normally runs. When he puts Lipos with the same voltage as before, lookout.
The sailors had no wind whatsoever for them.
I ran the crashboat with trimtabs and flooded the Springer, It nearly sank. I haven't figured out how the water got in, as I ran it earlier and it was dry

regards
Nick

Rain rain and more rain!!!! We are having one of the wettest winters that we have seen in a decade. In fact, I think it is supposed to rain today.

Hi Kmot and Deestingray,
yep its been wet but also the outlet is choked with weeds and stuff. Its a pipe rather than a weir so easily blocks up any time there is flow out of the lake. Council have been informed a few times that they need to clear it out. There is grass growing there that is over head hight.

How is the water level at boondall?
Regards
Nick

Yeah it is definitely high and to the limit. The thing about Boondall is that the lake that we run in is at the top of the chain so to speak, there is a bit of a weir over toward the entertainment centre itself and that drains into the lower lake which then flows out towards cabbage tree creek. It is pretty good though, we can literally drive the boats right up to the step that we stand on without having to hang over the edge and risk falling in.
