Sunday

Well I forgot to take any pictures on Sunday, weather looked a little threatening but only a couple of spots of rain.
A quiet day,
Ray/ Windward brought up his Amsterdam, Its coming along really well, he also joined the club

Mugudgie brought his NQD cat plus a couple of others, its a good candidate for the RTR conversion thread, he's been trying to get the speed up and learning about wiring etc.

Tasman, a new, old member came up with his Chisholm tug, a large steam tug with a 2000 gph bilge pump motor for power, he has a Perkins diesel sound simulator newly installed.

Peter, another new member turned up with a semi scale police/rescue-boat, he's re-powering her with a more efficient motor from John Darke.

Jack sailing as per usual,

The TV segment is due to air on the 18th for those in Queensland, We are having an open day and Hobby Sale on the 26th and a Night Sail on the 1st of November.

I brought down my 10 + year build of Lulonga to get some measurements of the motor current, 0.2 amp per motor on 12 volts holding the boat back. Ive been basically fixing and finishing her, my quality of build wasn't so great at 22 Im thinking of trying some ACTion 1 amp speed controls for her
I also ran the Revell S-100, its quite glitchy and with the motors being too powerful it shipped water again. I think its the shafts metal to metal contact

So here is some boring photos of the progress up to Sunday on the rebuild
Regards
Nick

Hi Nick.
Nice rebuild you've got going on there.
I'll have to bring a few boats to your swap meet. I've got to get rid of a few.
Must remember to be home in time to watch the TV show on Saturday.
Cheers.
Paul.

Lulonga

Progress to date, cabin skinned, including floor for future internal details, new deck planks drawn. Only going to reuse the top of the old cabin, already has that "weathered" look

Another Modeller passes away

I found out at today's sail that another member passed away last Monday, he only rejoined the club a month ago. Doug Stewart built some fantastic models of warships most of which now reside in the Ballina Maritime Museum although HMAS Norman of which my wife served on, is in the Ballina RSL (Returned Services League) club.

Today A reporter from the local paper came to write a little story to promote our Club Open Day and Hobby Sale next Sunday and Night Sail on the 2nd of November.

Photos tell the days story better than I can.

We flew our council flag at half mast in honour of Bill and Doug, RIP.

Regards
Nick

It belonged to an elderly gentleman who is returning to England permanently, I was contacted by his neighbour after seeing the article in the reporter to assist in selling it for him.
