I have an opportunity to make it down to Weldon next week. Have to be in Vegas until Wednesday morning the 31st. Could make it to Weldon for Thursday Friday and Saturday. Leaving in the morning so would have to pack planes and gear and take them with me if I want to be able to go.
Not sure if the winds will be worth the drive. Not looking for huge days just want to have some fun. Is this Hurricane going to affect the winds? How have the average days been down there? What do you guys think the forecast will do for next week? |

Forecast is pretty sad. Looks like I'm not going load the planes. Maybe Ill get down there in the Spring.

Only the person that needs the satellite. Those, say at Weldon could recieve and text normally. At Birdsprings where cell service would not be available, texting would be done via this device. Its a little pricey, but worth it if we can communicate. |

Those having used WiFi, already know the difference in texting with wifi and cell towers, as one comes across with blue text background, and the other with green.
I believe green is WiFi. Satellite may be a different color. Will see. |

How far between and are sites line of sight? I used to reach quite aways with my 50 watt business band radios

It's 11.3 miles between them. A good GMRS radio should be able to cover
that distance easily, but have to run up the road to the south of the flying spot a bit to get high enough to get clear LoS. ian |
