Tiger 400
Well my latest is a Tiger 400 I picked up used...
Running a Park 400 outrunner with a APC 9x6E wired to a T-Bird 18 powered by CSRC 1110 mAh 3s packs. Corona 6 ch full range rx and HS-55s make up the rest. I had to make the firewall and cover for the resultant gap. Turned out OK I think. 20oz AUW with batt. Had to add some weight to the nose to get her to balance. I HATE doing that... This is my first traditionally built electric. Pretty darn nice! Should get her in the air this weekend! |

Well I maidened her this morning and just got home! Flew like a dream! Vertical was not unlimited but fairly large multiple loops were no problem. Not as fast as I'd imagined and the roll rate was a bit slow (but I'm used to 3D surfaces) but all in all I LIKE IT!
Very smooth flying model! The stall characteristics are as good as any high winged trainer I've ever flown. It just ticks the nose down and keeps going. One problem... I had a perfectly nice paved runway but after the second battery I decided to see how it took the grass on a landing... Well I snagged a little rut I could not see in the grass and off went the gear! Broke the whole mounting area... Gonna have to see what the best way to fix that will be... Of course, being the maroon I am I flew two more batts via hand launching with soft grass "ploppings" as opposed to landings! Looks GREAT in the air, especially minus the gear! |
