Thanks, Lucien. It's on a Sr Telemaster tow plane, so no such gobbledegook. Just looking for ways to work with the prop clearance issue.

Dennis, according to the Scorpion catalog the 3026-890 is rated to 70A.
the cell count/ prop chart suggests 4S with 12X6 prop as ok.
Ran this through S Calc: Version3.43: input volts- 14.8
Current: 68A
Input power: 1006.5W
Power Out : 773.6
motor/prop speed: 11217 RPM
Pitch Speed : 63.7
Thrust: 112.8 oz.
prop Torque: 93.27 oz.in.
Efficiency : 81.9%
Of course your readings will vary but hopefully this will be close enough.
Louis: Is this close to your calcs?
Good luck.
cheers

Dennis, that was wise anyway, 2 amps of headroom isn't enough IMHO.

Lucien, when is Scorpion going to release those cool generators and wind turbines they're working on? Will you be a dealer for those?

soft2,
The Generator and Wind Turbine prodict lines are still in R&D for the time being. It will still be a while before they are available for sale. As far as distribution goes, I really do not know if Scorpion will use the current hobby product distributors or use new distributors in the commercial sector.

Would be nice to see some Scorpion inrunner motors.
Been thinking about building ZippKits JAE .21 for electric. Most guys right now are using UL-1 motor.

I had a problem with a earlier motor having the magnets chipped out of the box so i took this one apart , it also has small chips in the magnets , WTH ! its hard to get a clear picture , maybe you can tell if this is gonna be a problem ?

The last one i flew before looking inside , power was way down .......

Warbird racing

I race warbirds. Usually a 40 size mustang. Looking to turn a 14x14N APC prop at 10,500 rpm or so. Does Scorpion make a motor capable of this?

Thanks, Terry

Absolutely, but frankly I don;t know exactly wich one,

The 4025 series would be my starting point.

Also they are incredibly helpful with a phone call.

they also have a motor calc program if your into that.

Hi Terry First, Look up Innov8tive Designs.com, download the Scorpion Calculator. You will have all the info you need to make a possible selection.
Second: In order for anyone to help you, we will need far more info than general specs of a nitro engine! What nitro engine do you have now that can spin this 14x14N @ 10500rpm? I'm pretty sure it won't be a 40 sized engine!

Expected AUW, wingspan, plane manufacturer. What cell count do you want to use, or is it wide open? How fast do you think your plane should go? Can the plane be easily converted to electric - some are really poor choices do to weight, setup. if the plane doesn't have a battery hatch, they can be real bears to convert!!
I have a Kelly Racer (Kyosho), it weighs 6lbs,6ozs RTF with a Scorpion 4020-12 on 6S/5000/25C spinning a 12/12 Apc E prop. It goes 124.6 mph according to GPS. prop is spinning @ 10200 rpm. Just an example of what to expect! Doug Bartley

3032-690 Or 4020-10 or what?

Hello All,

I have an ASM B-17 for which I want to use Scorpion motors. I already got a pointer to the 3032-690 or 4020-10 (thanks Doug!). I want to figure out which one is better.
I ran Scorpion Calc on both of them, using 4S I got the following:

with 12X8, 3 Blade:
3032-690 :
Peak: 80% 38A OutPw 451W
WOT: 78% 56A OutPw 618W
4020-10:
Peak: 87% 34A OutPw 442W
WOT: 86% 53.5A OutPw 655

With 13X8, 3 Blade:
3032-690 :
Peak: 80% 38A OutPw 451W
WOT: 76% 69A OutPw 724W
4020-10:
Peak: 87% 34A OutPw 442W
WOT: 84% 69A OutPw 808

Seems to me the 4020 has an edge because its more efficient and has more power for this setup. Am I understanding it correctly?

I will need between 500-550W per engine for good performance (say 32Lbs @ 60-70 Watt/Lb). Seems to me that I'm very overpowered...

Your input is appreciated..

Thanks
Edgar
