Other than if you want to spend $100 more for the Revo it'll depend on if you want a 2wd stadium truck or 4wd monster truck. they're both good trucks, but very different. 3.3's might give a good lesson of throttle control for a first timer.

depends what ur lookin 4, jato 3.3 and revo 3.3 r both one of the best rc cars out there. jato would b more of an on road car, very very fast in a straight line and gr8 handling, not so good off road tho, but will do it. revo b gr8 off road, climb over anything, not near as fast as jato on road, but isnt slow. the advantage of traxxas is you get real good reliability so both of these trucks wood b reliable, they also have the ez-start system which i find is nice. also if your new the traxxas owners manual is very helpful.
if i was u i wood buy a revo cause i feel it a gr8 all rounder and can do everything well. and look at some of the vidios on youtube of the jumps people do in those revos its insane, i wood do a few jumps in my jato n it woodnt withstand anything like that. hope its a help

Im not really one for jato although For my first starter out of those 2 i would defently go for the jato simply because of it's sleek design and very high speed,
however the revo is much better for smashing and is much more durable,
but for you i would recommend Jato 3.3
