Walkera #52 Vs. Walkera 52 #1

I've come across what is being touted as the 2007 model of the Walkera 52, the Walkera 52 #1. Both are listed on the Walkera site, the most notable difference being that the #1 seems to come out of the box as an FP, but with the 3rd servo included to convert to CP. Does anyone have any knowledge of the #1 or exactly how it compares to the original #52? Any info would be great. Thanks, Joe

I often fly my 52 outside and this weekend it was quite windy in London. It's quite a challenge to fly this heli in even mild wind because just one gust can make you climb or drop more than 6 feet. With collective pitch you have a much more responsive heli and the ability to apply negative pitch means you have a better chance of fighting nature's elements. I would stick with the old 52 or wait for the 64#B

The 52#1 also includes thier new wk702 tx which is smaller than the old 701 tx, and is synthisized so there are no frequency crystals as well as the RX, but you can only change to six different frequency's, still neat feature, also has adjustable expo, throttle curves, and PIT. The 52#1 also has a new 4n1, a 130 size motor, includes a 12v nimh battery pack instead of the old #52's Lipo.

The frame is supposed to be improved but I don't have an original #52 to compare it to my 52#1 to verify this though.

It includes an extra servo, linkages, and blades to convert it to a ccpm heli.

How does the 52#1 fly

I'm watching the 52#1 closely for a backyard flyer. Please let us know how it flies as fixed pitch.
Of course, video would be nice too.

Also, are you saying that it comes with the 3rd servo for ccpm? And, the linkage to convert it?

I'm about to bite the bullet!

Thanks in advance

If the 52#1 has all the bits included for CCPM then I take my words back. I would still get the 64#C though

I'm just going to wait for the 64#c here in a week or two. Same size but has a belt driven tail rotor & of courcee CP tail rotor. Aluminum rotor head & I guess they will have the aluminum tail assem. sometime in the future for it as well. The photos show it on but Casey that has HighVolt-Heli on e-bay says it's plastic. The parts list does not list the aluminum tail rotor yet. Also I'd like to stick with Lipo's insted of back tracking to NMHD's

Casey is a member here also. He has the 52's & 52#1's right now. In a week or two he'll have the 64#c's as well.

Will the 64 be the same size as the 52's? And do we know approximate pricing?

I was just about to order a 52#1,sure might have to hold out now for the 64#c,that is one sweet looking piece. I wonder if the 64#c with have fp/cp option like the 52#1? Probably not would be my guess,decisions,decisions........

The 64#C is CCPM with Bell-Hiller mixing. According to Othmar in the 52 forum, it flies better than the MZ. My MZ flies pretty good so I have high expectations.

The original MZ is the EP100 made by Gaui Hobby in Taiwan. They make a standard version with plastic an a Pro version with metal head and CF frame. The Pocket Zoom is a rebranded version of the plastic version, distributed in Europe by the Belgian company Protech. I believe there is another branded version called the PixyZap and a Chinese fake called the FireFox.

A lot of owners of the MZ Pro have complained of poor climbout, much inferior to the 52. My MZ Pro is quite overweight at 270g but I have never had this problem. Unlike the other owners I am running it on 3s with upgraded motor 300GT. I run my throttle curve at 0%, 100%, 100%. With this setup its a vicious beast and flies circles around my 52.
