I recently downloaded the plans for the TINY and built it
using a GWS DXA power plant and qualcomms.
It's my first balsa plane and first aileron plane, having flown only
for a few months and only the GWS Pico Stik and Tiger Moth.
All I can say is, WOW. What fun. It is a lot harder to fly but
I'm learning to do rolls, loops and inverted.

I just want to say thanks to Todd for such a fun plane.
I was all smiles after my first flight. Does it get any better than this?

If you could I would like some helpfull hints on how to build it if you have any. I have built one modle from scratch and it was a funfly hots. What did you use to cover it? Is that paint on the wood? hs55 I asum. Any way I would just like some helpfull hints if you have any? Thanks Richard SPiegel

This is what I did to build the TINY.
-download the free plans from http://www.rcmicroflight.com/dec99/tiny01.asp
-download the free CADView/7 from www.fastcad.com
-print the plans on 8.5X11 sheets. To print to scale you need 4 sheets across and 4 down. Tape them together.
-buy the required balsa sheets and strips and CA from LHS. (about $10 for balsa) I used a .25X.25 basswood strip for the fuse since they did not have CF tubes.
-I made a rib template using 1/8 hardboard first to use as a pattern to cut the real ribs on the 1/16 balsa sheet. (Way easier this way.)
-assembled wing using CA at joints
-built elevons and tail on a flat surface ,on top of the plans, with wax paper in between, using pins to hold down and CA to glue.
-used Probond to glue wing and tail pieces to fuse
-used 1/4X3/4 pieces of overhead transparency film for hinges
-used piano wire for landing gear and cheap GWS Tiger Moth wheels
-used GWS flight pack for ESC, receiver, servos and DXA motor with 9X7 prop
-used Qualcomm 830 batts with protection circuit removed, attached with velcro to bottom of fuse
-used velcro to fasten ESC and receiver to inside center ribs
-painted the balsa with acrylic craft paint from Walmart, thinned with water
-covered with Saran wrap and glue stick
I've included a pic of servo linkages. (sorry for poor quality).
Left servo is for ailerons, the control horn is two sided and positioned toward the front of the plane. The right servo is for the elevator with only one control horn facing toward the center of the plane.
I used mini ez connectors to attach the piano wire. Used wood coffee stir sticks to make the control horns for the ailerons and elevtor. Drilled little holes in them and also soaked them with some CA for added stiffness. The rudder is fixed.
That's it. Inexpensive and flew great first time out.

No dates are set as of now, but the funflys will be set in a golf dome (possibly the new one) and sometime in november.
