Covering

The cover up continues. Did rear sides, with the natural solartex. Am leaving rear bottom open till the control wires are installed and tested.

Time to cover the main part of fuselage. Am going with the olive drab for entire front of fuselage. Believe it looks better with the aluminum cowl. Did this section using 2 pieces of the Solartex. Started on center line top. After marking location of cabanes and cutting them out, worked my way down from top to bottom. The top and back edges I had cut before ironing on the Solartex. The bottom was cut after all the Solartex was ironed on. Overlapped under cowl area about 1/4". Even with all the curves in this area, not even a hint of wrinkles. Went over area well, with a hotter setting to make sure of a good wood to cover bond.

After finishing with the Solartex, was anxious to start staining the cabanes. So..completely forgot to take photos, until after I had already taped down the area under cabanes with wax paper, and glued on the cabane wood thingees. Well at least the struts area ready for the finish.

Fuselage Covering Continues

Yellow....hmmmm....I may have been a little hasty with my choice of antique walnut. Hey I can always paint em yellow later. Does sorta look like a dead..headless horse.

Dude, there's nothing wrong with walnut!!! Go with natual wood, man, run with it!!!

Seriously, I think that having natural wood showing on a plane of that era is awesome.

Just my two cents worth.

In answer to your question. Hasn't that been made abundantly clear to you, by now.
You tell him lord99.

Anyway it's to late, got 3 coats of the stuff on already. Course I do have some latex offwhite, that had been used to paint the apartment a few years back. Could slap that over the antique walnut.

Not to worry lord99, just trying to make Adam feel better, about a little event in 1776.

Cooties maybe? When I finally get all the paint on her, hopefully she'll look like Cinderella, and not one of the less atractive stepsisters.
