Covering

Top wing is covered. The Solartex goes around curves pretty good. Tried even doing the wing tips with one piece. Was asking a little to much, ended up using 2 pieces for the tips. Made good use of an, iron thermometer, I got, kept iron below the called for temp to bond, and then turned it up to shrink. And any folds or stubborn loose areas were gone over on a high temperature. Forgot the exact temps but went by the instructions, that came with the Solartex. After the covering was on used a small dia. heated metal rod to open up and seal the holes for cabane strut bolts.

Whoa!

Been following your thread for a while and when I saw the picture of the mini torch with next to the picture of the wing... well the sunlight is doing funny things in that picture and I thought for a second that you had set your wings on fire!!!

LOL good to know it's still going well.

Your doing a fantastic job, Its really looking great !!

I have that little tourch and its fine for soldering but they claim you can braze with and I cant unless I might find a smaller rod possibly then it might braze with that.

Irish, Thats neat isnt it, I see what you are saying.

Cool affects Erich !!!

Tim, lord,

I just got what you guys are talking about. The wings are on the floor of front porch, with sunlight coming throught the pines. They DO look like they're on fire. And yup...planned the whole thing. You want special effects...just ask.

Thanks guys.

Covering

Got lower wing covered. Used 4 sheets of the natural color, on each wing. The seams are, just under LE and 1/4" under TE, with the bottom being done first. Again used heated wire to open up holes for the undercarriage screws, and wing hold down bolt.

Ramblings

What's wrong with me?....what's wrong with you?....Don't you know, only a scale firefighter can put out a scale fire. Believe it's the 4th law of scale-otics. Surprised you didn't know that, being the accomplished scale builder you are. Well gotta go find that clown pilot of mine and see if I can get him to throw some water on those wings.
Wonder if I should start using a glue that isn't quite so potent?

Fuselage Cover Up

Had wanted to do something to liven up the color scheme on the Pup. And in keeping with the clown pilot theme...have made the stripes on rear top deck. Hope the scale people won't start uncoiling the rope, just yet. Tried to pep up the color scheme somewhat, yet remain within the bounds of good taste. Hope I've succeeded. Got the idea, once plane is all covered, this will look pretty good. If not, can always rip it off and try again.

It looks good to me.

I dont like it, but it looks good

You have to build to make yourself happy and if ruining a perfectly good Pup makes you happy then you should do it.

Just kidding, It looks good

Hey anyone can make a plane to someone else's specs. Takes a real moron to stick his neck out and do something er....ahhh.....stupid....I mean original. See I knew you'd regret not supporting my orange / green idea. Keep up these types of comments, and I'll get an F2B and ruin that too (gonna make it orange and purple buddy).

Green air

Thanks for the kind words. The cowl came with the Flair kit. Which I got from Radical RC. I believe he also sells them seperately. Near bottom of page: http://radicalrc.secure-mall.com/sho...next=Next+Page
