Im impressed you have a 5.25x6.25 that balances! I have 3 of them, and they are all so outta whack that id have to clip half the blade on one side to get them to balance

Yup, need video

Thinking about a slicker plane, even at 500w my escape is starting to seem slow. It's my first composite plane, from reading on here I get the impression it is draggier than other comparable planes? Any suggestions for something that's a step up in performance?
Hello, well I dont see or feel any differance between APC or Graupner in my Escape, its random, sometimes it goes well, sometimes I have to change my pants ....

The Problem is the Escape, when launching my Turn Left, it does NOT have this problems at all....

So you say your escape is slow ? hehe, maybee you have been used to that speed now... My Escape is faster then My Turn Left with the same power..

If you want something faster, try a F5D ship like the Viper or Demon , now this baby can take 2000 watts , no problems, if you think that is to slow , well then you have to start doing rockets or something like that, ..

It needed to be balanced a little. But with the right amount of WBPU it turns perfectly true. I have yet to find a prop that I could not balance with this method and a simple finger tip balancer (placed on a set of parallel, vertically aligned razor blades).

I have flown this setup ~5 times and I even got to fly it back to back with my Graupner 5.5x5.5 (which draws about the same static current). The 5.25x6.25 averages about 800W unloaded in flight, while the Graupner draws ~725 unloaded. The speeds are so hard to tell when they are this high. But the 5.25x6.25 is noticeably faster, especially out of a dive. But it drops a lot of speed in the turns, or so it appears.

My guess would be 185mph, perhaps 190+ out of a good dive. I'll have to attempt to get a video sooner or later...though it likely won't come until next summer!

Does this plane have any issues with flutter after certain speeds?

I have a 1506/3D which needs a home on 4S, will it be suitable for this plane?
Anyone have any pics of Escapes with 15xx motors?

I have not read a single report of flutter. The airframe is discontinued though.

Personally I have gone to speeds of 185mph or more and never experienced any issues whatsoever. Even when doing pylon turns at full speed the wing doesn't show any indication of bending.

That being said, I think you will REALLY struggle to get the airframe to work with the 1506. You'll have to trim the nose shorter to make it fit, which means you'll rapidly run out of room. On top of that, the plane tends to be tail-heavy. With that fairly light motor (about the same as a 1115 if memory serves) being closer to the CG your balance issues will only be higher.

To top it all off, as G.P. said, the Escape is no longer being made! I have had dreams that Jiri will make a second one. Something with a slightly longer nose (but only just), and thinner h-stab airfoil, and a slightly thinner wing. I love the square fuse of the Escape! Much more pain free then the Sunracer!

I got a nice new package in the mail

It'll spin a 6.5x10 at ~19k rpm on 4s.

Or a 6x9 at ~25k rpm on 5s.

Should haul some serious butt. And make a cool sound to boot!

Cool beans, I wonder what sorta rpm itll spin an aeronaut 8x9.4 (8x7+5degree) folder?

I have that prop on my wasp, with a 16-25-2.5SC4 (1840kV) and it &*^ks off, but the 40 should be able to handle much more boogey, if the prop will hold together

Been looking thru this thread for a while now just havn't had anything to add yet...and wow lots of good info, I've been flying my Escape for the whole summer and absulutely love this plane!
I started out flying it with a E-Flite six series 2700kv motor, and a turnigy plush 60, and it was fun, but now I'm flying it with a NEU 1110/1Y and a 4.1x4.1 apc prop with a 2200mah 3s 40C pack and wow what a raging psycho of a plane now, love it.
I had one mishap with it when I was landing and caught the stab on a hydro wire a tore half of it off but landed it ok. Goinav8n (Jeff) helped me out with one of his stabs from some of his carnage, back up and runnin again.
I realize that they aren't made anymore and thats too bad, but I did just manage to score another one as of late, with a couple of very minor scrapes for a spare, which I'm very happy about.
Keep th thread going guys.
Cheers

I also have an 1105/1.5Y, what would it be like compared to the 1110/1Y that I'm running right now?

1110-1Y out runs 1105. Actually, if any, go with 1115-1.5D 4S 4.1X4.1 with a cc125

Hey Guys,

I've had my eye on the Escape for a while. I'm currently flying a Top Model Stinger, 3S Lipo, Mega 16/15/4 and 5.2 x 4.8 prop. I love flying this plane to death but I am looking for the next step up in speed.

Do you reckon the Escape could be a good candidate?

All the Best

Danny
